You mind if I ask what they quoted you for the job?

$600

Includes the bushing kit, labor, and fresh Motul fluid.

Bushings are around $110, and gear oil approx $30.

So, $480 for the work, and let's say $80/hour... they quoted you a full 8 hour day of labor.

Good thing they're using fresh Motul fluid. It would certainly suck to fill that diff with used fluid.

Hey lego, how long have you been riding around on a blown main bushing? Or is this a preventative measure?

4.2 hours @ $114

It's inline with the 2 other quotes I got at both my independent guy and another Nissan shop

It's been blown for probably a little over a year now.

Looking back, it seems I can't do simple math and dropped $20, LOL.

Sounds like you did a fair effort on scoping out the project.

A year, huh? What's that like? Did you get lots of clunking, and was the back-end handling erratic? Or was this just fluid you noticed oozing down your diff cover that put the project on your list?

Honestly, I couldn't really tell it was broken. Maybe some clunking going into 2nd, but not enough to make me rush out to get it fixed.

In theory I could have the dealer fix it with the extended warranty, but the new part would only have a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty, and it's a know weak link, so I'd likely have to deal with it out of pocket the next time.

I would have used the warranty to cover it. Why pay out of pocket when you don't have to? I get your way of thinking, but you also paid for the extended warranty. Have them fix it now for free, and if/when it fails in the future then that's when you should pay out of pocket.

It's not free though, it's a $100 for the deductible. I also would need to drop off the car and deal with logistics while it gets diagnosed. Then, since it's highly unlikely Infiniti has a extra rear subframe hanging in stock, I have to deal with getting the car back there a second time for them to replace a weak link with another weak link.

Basically the upgraded bushing and one day turn-a-round are worth $475 to me.

That's what loaners are for

They didn't offer me a loaner the last time I took my car in. Only if they are going to have the car overnight.

LOL well hopefully its for more reasons than just that.

I feel very fortunate for the service I get at my dealership. I've gotten the "family" discount for years through my advisory and no we aren't related. I have stories, but most prob wouldn't believe them.

As for the size of halos I believe I went with 110mm and 90mm pairs. I asked for high priority drivers in the order. They do have switch back versions that flip to yellow on turn signal but I was feeling the red more. If I really want to I can add a yellow led in the center of the turn signal to flash with the pair.

I eliminated the side-marker led for the lens. I felt it was unnecessary given the brightness of the rings.

Wiring was the easiest part as DD has great connectors they ship out that just tap the wires in the harness that's attached to the light so that part is self contained.

Annoyed this week that my BRAKE light and traction control have been coming on this week since is started getting cold up here. Gonna have to check the brake fluid. I'll probably wrap her up for the winter tonight, remove the battery and throw the cover on her.

Thanks for all the additional information, dj. I'm definitely putting this on my list of Winter mods.

I'm just sad I don't have speakers on this computer so I can't hear your exhaust, but from the other comments it sounds like it sounds sweet.

One other thing I noticed in your little video is that it looks like you have power folding side mirrors. Did you add these to the car or did you just manually fold your mirror? The lack of power folding mirrors on our cars when various Hyundai's & Kia's get them is a big gripe of mine.
