Cup Holder cover Stuck

I have a 2010 g37x sedan. The cover for the cup holder keeps getting stuck, only opens 1/2 3/4 way. Any suggestions?

did you spill anything that might cause it to be sticky?

make sure the plastic piece that looks like sunglasses is fully clipped in. It's inside the cup holder toward the back.
