I dropped my 09 at the dealership this morning. When I hit a rough patch on the street I get this weird vibration in the pedal box area under my feet (no brake application and steering wheels is rock steady). Almost like something is loose. Of course it could not be duplicated at the service writeup. Anyway.. I told the tech to look at the front driver corner. Maybe the brake line is hitting the shield or shield is loose. Second time in.

I know exactly what you're talking about. It feels like feedback from the road surface? Just putting my foot on the brake pedal without any pressure and I feel it. I don't notice it anymore. I must be used to it.

I had a similar issue, had the rotors turned, and now it's smooth.

Hi I bought a 2011 with 17k and my pedal vibration was violent at first. I had the rotors turned ..gratis. This helped but I find that if you don't use the brakes pretty rough sometimes you get deposits from the stock pads that cause little issues like you seem to be having. Even after my rotors were trued I still had pulsations in my pedal. I find I can get them to lessen by using the brakes aggressively. YMMV. I intend to replace the stock rotors and pads eventually with something from Stoptech. I do however think the stock brakes and pads are fairly good just not super smooth. I think the pad formulation is geared for initial bite and coats the rotors with gunk for lack of a technical term.

Figured it was better to search and resurrect an old thread then to start a new one....

So i'm experiencing something very similar....

Two weeks ago i had new rotors and pads done along with alignment. Meant to purchase centric premiums and ended up getting the c-teks paired with akebono performance pads. I also did a brake fluid drain/refill myself with new nissan brake fluid. They were just starting to wear in and "bite" until i had to slam on my brakes on the highway at about 75mph. It felt like i was driving over multiple, smaller speed bumps. I didn't feel it in the steering wheel, just the pedal and seat of my pants. Brought it to my local mechanic and he thinks the rotors are warped.

I called both centric and akebono....centric thinks the brake pads are too hard, akebono thought the opposite and that there were uneven deposits on the rotors.

I bought the rotors on amazon so may be able to return and upgrade to the premium centrics. I just thought it was weird because i've done many brake jobs and never had any problems.

Think the pads are ok or i should swap them as well? I've always had a great experience with akebono.

You probably have uneven deposits, I would try scrubbing the rotors by doing the following~
Find a safe stretch of road that you can safely accelerate to 60mph and quickly slow to 10mph, go back to 60 and down to 10 about 4-5 more times without ever coming to a complete stop, then drive as normal for about 15 minutes to let them cool down. When finally coming to a stop don't rest on the brakes just enough to stop then apply parking brake to secure vehicle.
Take it for a drive 30 minutes later and see if you have a smooth pedal when braking, or at least an improvement, this should tell you if it's the pad deposits or a rotor that's got excessive run-out.

@2010sedanS Are you saying you experienced that sensation while slamming on the brakes at 75 mph or that the sensation continues now?

If the former, then I'd say that's normal and you probably felt the abs kicking in. If the later, try what blnewt recommends.

Jsolo, the sensation still continues. I did think of maybe a bad ABS sensor but in my experience with ABS it's more of a grinding feeling, this was different. I was able to get a refund on the c-tek's and ordered the centric premiums. Going to swap them out tomorrow and hopefully that takes care of this. Happy for the swap as these c-teks have already started to rust after only a few weeks which seems ridiculous but centric says that this is normal.

I wasn't thinking so much a bad abs sensor but rather the sensation one gets when abs kicks in. Sort of a vibration/pulsation of sorts in the pedal.

So i switched out the c-teks to the centric premiums with akebono performance pads and after a week or so of "easy" driving, they are now starting to feel fantastic. Like night and day. Thanks to everyone that commented.
