Blemish in center console

I am looking to buy a 2010 G37. It is a Liquid Platinum with Black/Graphite interior. Exterior and interior looks great except.. The leather on the center console lid is blemished. It is pretty conspicuous. Maybe the previous owner used to rest their elbow on it ! I have been looking at many used G37s but have not seen this in any others - 2010 model with around 30k miles. Strange !! What does it take to replace the leather? Can the dealership do it for me? Is it just the lid that needs to be replaced or the whole center console? Any idea how much it will cost to replace?

And the paint behind the driver door handle at one spot (penny size) is totally chipped upto the metal. Maybe the previous owner had long nails !! The seller dealership said they will buff this up.

It is a 2010 G37 Journey, premium, Navigation package. I am getting this from a a non-Infiniti dealership. Final quote is $24,000. Clean carfax. Single owner.

To buy or not to buy?

You can replace the entire console lid. You can have an upholstery shop recover it. Dealership would sell you a new lid entirely, not do upholstery work. Ask the place you're buying it from to have it replaced if you buy.

If pant is scraped completely off, no amount of polishing will put it back. It'll need to be touched up to replace missing paint.

I'd try to get that price just a little lower.

My suggestion would be to either have then take some money off of the deal like Black Betty said or try to work it into the deal. The touch up paint pens cost like $9 at the dealership so they should just throw it in, if not it shouldn't be a deal breaker. For $24, 000 you're getting a really good deal.

Just ask. The worst they can say is no.

My lid is damaged also (just purchased it, not sure what the original owner did to it0.

I plan to buy a replacement lid (just $120 from dealer), but how do I remove the lid. Does it have hidden screws or snap off at the hinges?

I have a 2010 with 32,000 miles. It still looks brand new. I had read about women that have rings or long nails that will scratch the paint behind the door handle, by wrapping their fingers around the handle.
I told my wife about this when it was new and asked her to grab the handle by her finger tips so this wouldn't happen.
As you can tell I'm pretty anal about keeping my cars in pristine condition, I don't know why I am so particular and consider it a vice, but that's just the way I am.
I have had quite a few cars and the G37 is the longest I have ever kept one.
The G does everything I want and it has been trouble free so I have not had the urge to trade it in.

Hi Tom:

That's exactly what is damaged on mine and the previous owner was a female so I assume you're right, it was probably her rings or nails that scratched the paint nearly completely off. Anyone know how to remove the lid?
