WANT! What's on *your* Xmas list?

In the spirit of receiving, I thought it might be fun to have a thread where you can post a pic of the single item you WANT most from Santa this year! Not sure if it will take off but meh, don't care :)

So here's mine.

My "want" list includes the 20" M56S rims... but smoked.

That would look very nice methinks. You should do a photochop to motivate yourself :)

I already got mine :)

But if Santa is taking orders for next year a nice BBK would fit under the tree SOOO NICE :)
Merry Christmas Everybody :)

Haha, the looks are very motivating, the problem is the price. They're about $2,000 for the set, no tires. Of course the M forums aren't as active as the G forums when it comes to selling their wheels.

Here it is on a black G, which is where I got the idea for it.

Why not Z Rays rims? Not THAT different and likely much lighter!

One thing? That would be this pair right here from BERK. Although I'm thinking it will be a self-gift after the turn of the year, assuming I get a highly deserved and long-overdue bonus this year. We'll see.

Specifically for X-MAS, I'm very much hoping the wifey got me this here from CUSCO. I gave her a retail link a few months ago, so I really don't know if she ordered it or not. Hope she did.

But if she didn't, then my B-Day is only a few weeks away, so I've got a second shot, LOL!

GTSpec is stiffer in the vertical plane!

As for the HFCs, why not Fast Intentions? I definitely want their RHFCs. Also hope to do a custom exhaust from them next year when I decide what to do with my G (see other thread I replied to you on).

Stiffer in the vertical plane? IDK what that means, except the stiffer part. And while that may very well be, it's just a FSTB, Ash. No FSTB is going to measurably "perform" better than another one, they all do the exact same thing... which is minimal at best. So I'm going with CUSCO for clean fitment under the hood and over the engine cover. That, and I don't want to have the manufacturer's name etched into the bar.

As for BERK over the RHFCs at Fast Intentions... after absorbing all the videos and comments on both for the last year, I've decided on BERK. The resonated FI cats seem too quiet to me. I've also come to the anecdotal conclusion that BERK HFC + Stillen Catback would be the most appealing full exhaust (for me). So I'm starting with the BERK's.

Gonna go ahead and disagree with you there buddy. The whole point of an FSTB is to prevent the shock towers from deflecting. The stiffness of the bar is exactly what prevents that. The stiffer it is, the better it will do its job. "Vertical plane" happens to be the one where this bar has its bending axis, since it's curved. The cross-section of the GTSpec is thicker and internally triple-walled vertically so it acts more like an I-beam. The thinner Cusco is less likely to scratch that pretty engine cover, but it's thinner in exactly the dimension you want the most stiffness in. That's why I insisted on GTSpec. I mean, if you're gonna get a mod, get one that does the best possible job, right?

As for whether it works, I've noticed a difference. Not a monumental one, but it is noticeable. And I'm pretty good at not convincing myself of a change that isn't there so I don't think it's a psychological reaction.

Got it. I like quiet, but high flow. Not a fan of the metallic sound or rasp. Both are very, very well built.

But don't you have Tanabe exhaust, not stillen? Did you make a change?

I will give GT-Spec more consideration. As I said elsewhere to you, I think the GT-Spec is the more attractive of the two, etching notwithstanding. I swear I've read a few posts where people ditched their GT-Spec, and replaced it with Cusco, because of fitment. Now I need to figure that out all over again. :eek3:

And no, my exhaust is still OEM... except for the tips, which are custom-cut & weld Magnaflows, 3.5" round, single-wall, 45* angle. I've only had the car for 10 months, and 7K miles now. Bought it used with 4K only miles on it.

Tanabe does make an attractive axle-back, but it's stone quiet. I need more noise. Your interpretation of exhaust noise as a metallic sound or rasp is another man's music. Besides, I don't think those terms apply well to Berk HFC's and the Stillen Catback. But that's still an assumptive conclusion on my part, until parts.

yeah the primary complaint is the thicker GTSpec can scrape the hood liner, or the engine cover depending on how you mount it. I think that it just requires a more careful installation. Just don't mount it too high or too low and it will be fine. Wasn't hard at all and mine isn't interfering with any parts at all.

Absolutely... sound is totally subjective. I tend to err on the quieter side of things. Even my custom motorcycle exhaust is loud to me, but when I am riding in a group I realize how quiet it really is.
