It's fairly difficult to do, and can cost quite a bit of money if it can be done at all. Your best bet is either buy a Garmin or play the audio from your phones navigation via Bluetooth through your speakers.

Here are a couple of different threads about it. Honestly if money isn't an issue then you would be better off buying a G with it already installed. Anyway, here you go.

I wouldn't bother. Out Tom Tom Via 1550 for $115 at COSTCO does a better job. ranted it only has a 5" screen (newer models have 6 " and larger Screens), and it's not as "neat" into the dash, bu the Lifetime traffic /Maps is included. I spent $119 for my 2010 G37X Navigation unit upgrade during the summer, installed it myself (it took over 3 hours while running the car!!!), and now has all sorts of glitches. In fact, I need to make an appointment with the Dealer to fix it. And there is No Traffic unless you pay a monthly fee on top of your XM radio fee. And that's not so good. I had that feature initially, then cancelled it. It rarely detected traffic conditions to reroute me. Alternately, the Tom Tom has saved me at least 10 times from severe traffic conditions.

I think you're partially right and I'm partially wrong. Correct new if I'm wrong but don't you get Bluetooth in all G's but the streaming capabilities come with the navigation system.

Buy an Android phone. Google Navigation (with real time traffic) is free on the Android platform. You get accurate real time turn by turn driving direction just like how it works on a real GPS device. Can't beat this.

Note that Google Navigation is not the same as Google Map. Google Navigation is not available on the iOS platform. You can download Google Map on iOS platform. But Google Map provide you with only directions, NOT turn by turn like a real GPS device.

the nav in these cars just looks to dated for me

google maps and google navigation are much better.

I was driving in an area with heavy construction and google maps knew of all the construction and gave me accurate directions.

Most navigation systems in cars are a few years behind and you have to pay quite a bit for updates.
