trunk wouldn't close...
Anyone have this happen to them?
As I was walking up to the car today with a cart full of groceries, I grabbed the key-fob and popped open the trunk. Since it was turning into a nice day, I then (via the fob) rolled down all 4 windows. After loading the trunk, I closed it. It closed. Car beeped - and the trunk popped open. I was like 'What the ...'. Tried it again. Same thing. OK - so I locked the car - and unlocked it with the fob. Same thing. I had to open the drivers door - then close it. It was only then the trunk would close and stay closed. Obviously I did something out of order - or somehow raised the ire of the trunk popper... Only thing I can think of is I may have locked the car again when I put the fob back into my pocket? Wondering if that would have caused the trunk no to close? Any other thoughts? |
The trunk is supposed to do that exact thing when the fob is inside the trunk and you try to close it.
So...either the fob was in the trunk when u tried to close it, the button was stuck on the fob, or the sensor in the trunk is doing something whacky. |

It DOES make sense that it will not close the trunk if it THINKS the fob is in there... Next time - I'll try and hold the fob far away with my left hand while closing the trunk with my right hand :) |
This happened to me at Cars and Coffee a few months ago. I figured it was just a glitch in the electronics. After reading this I realized we were putting my wife's purse in the trunk and she had her key fob to my car in the purse. That's why it kept popping open! Thanks
