09 G37x Bumper Cover....Options and Opinions??
I am recent G37 convert. I just traded in my BMW 525i on an 09 G37x sedan with nav. I loved my BMW but hated the maintenance. So far, I am impressed with the G.
Here is my question, I am very fussy and there is a minor ding and a couple minor scratches in the front bumper, non-sport. I have several options and was looking for opinions.....
1. Get the existing bumper cover repaired and repainted, $300 +/-.
2. Get the existing bumper cover repaired and repainted and add a non-sport front lip, $540 +/-.
3. Get a new 09 sport bumper cover and paint OB, $640 +/-.
(If you have a source for a OEM painted for less, please let me know)
4. Go for it and change to a 2010 bumper cover.....awesome but $$$$$$.
Thanks,
RJ

The 2010+ Sport Sedan front bumper is one of my favorite design elements on my car. Of course, you'll need new front grilles, too. I can't imagine how much this mod would cost. Lots.

i think with the 10+ you have to also get new headlights. I also really like the 10+ sport bumper.

That adds up quick....... $2650!! I agree the 10 sport bumper is a great looking piece but not at that price....Option 4 is off the table.
Option 5, BlackTop Aero lip for the non sport. $700 installed and painted.
That lip looks like it might actually cover the ding on my current bumper.
Thanks,
RJ

It might take a while, but you can sell the parts you remove for the conversion, biggest opportunity to get money back on it is the headlights. Still would be expensive though.
One thing to consider with the lip is hitting the parking stops/curbs. If dings bother you a lot and you're used to pulling all the way up in spots you'll probably ding up a lip too. I really want the OEM lip for the sport bumper, but the more I'm driving the car I realize I'm barely clearing the parking stops with it stock.

Hmm, well I'm not sure to be honest as I don't own one, I was going off of the response Goonz sent me in his thread:
https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...he-chin-4.html
It looks like reading down since I read his post others have said it doesn't really lower it enough to cause issues. Maybe I'll see if the dealer has one installed to take a look at next to one without
https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...he-chin-4.html
it lowers it to the point where you WILL hit those parking curbs if you are not careful when parking. Best advice it to stay safe and avoid pulling all the way in. Its hard at first but you get the hang of it. Even with stock suspension the lip does give the front a much lower stance, I can only imagine with the sport suspension how nice the front would look with that chin

Option 6....
One more option....
Existing non-sport bumper cover with an Autokits front lip in carbon fiber. $495
It looks like that lip will cover the ding in my bumper. Anybody have any experience with Autokits and/or pics?
Thanks,
RJ
