I've booked an appointment for next Tuesday for this issue. They want me to take the car in with as little gas as possible. They did say that they have had other complaints about this issue, so i'm assuming they have a fix. Will update you all next week.

Anyone have a copy of the TSB? Sorry if it has already been posted in the forum. I searched TSB, but for some odd reason it comes up as nothing found, maybe cause its only 3 letters?

Got bored and tired of the fluctuating gas gauge so I pulled out the fuel pump assembly and cleaned it. It really made a difference. Here's some pics of it before and after I cleaned it.

This may be a great solution for those who's out of warranty like myself to give this a try. You don't need a whole lot of mechanic skills either. Hope this helps.

This just happened to me today as well. Pulled into the gas station and it would only take 10 gallons. Got me a half tank and just wouldn't take any more fuel. Had a WTF moment and remembered seeing a thread about it on here. I just ran out of warranty less than a month ago too. Will be seeing what my mechanic at Infiniti says tomorrow.

I can be positive they'll tell you will need a new fuel sender. Before you decide to do that give what i did a try first. It can possibly save you a couple hundred.

Good Luck!

Ok I hope mine is a similar issue otherwise something is seriously wrong.

I try to keep track of my mpg and today when the gauge was showing almost empty with 25 miles to empty.

I put 6 gallons to the tank and went to cruising on the pacific highway. Most of the time 65mph cruise around 2600 rpm. I went around 50 miles on one direction to alamos and back.

Now around 100 miles the mpg gauge was showing around 28mpg then I realized that distance to empty began to decline rapidly. first 54 miles (still would be ok since it would have been over 25mpg ) , 5 miles later 27 another five miles 16. At 115 miles it was showing empty.

I didn't risk it and got some fuel although I am quite frustrated.

Whether my mpg gauge is so messed up that it is showing 28 when in reality I am getting 18 or the fuel gauge is malfunctioning?

Btw the mpg figures were spot on when I hand calculated 1-2 months ago.

Anyways did the others have similar symptoms ?

Ok as far as I know our tanks are 20 gals right ?

It was almost empty I filled it up and took 14 gallons flat and the fuel gauge is now full.

Where is the remaining 6 gallons ?

I think I'm having the same problem too cuz the past few days the gas guage has been acting up too. Some days the level is at half a tank and some days it is under half.

I have read couple posting about it and a lot of it is suggesting to clean the module in the fuel pump.
Should it help or should I get a used one from a 2010 for my 2009

So I finally had the dealership diagnose the car, they said both sending unit need to be change and the cost is a whooping $1300.
I will call back Infiniti on Monday as our previous conversation on the phone they told me to get the diagnostic and call them to see what they can do.
