If you have one please comment on the model and how you like it. Seems like a useful thing to have, for fairly cheap.

definitely looks like a great idea.

if it had recorded the license plate and face of the loser that keyed my windshield it would be worth it.

interesting topic.. I was just checking out these type of devices on eBay last night. Definitely more affordable options there, from $30-$60... without the GPS. Could probably power it via the mirror as well.

Great idea.. unless your at fault. You may have just purchased a device to incriminate yourself.

No thank you.....it could be used against the OWNER in a court of law if it catches YOU doing something wrong.

I would be interested in a dash cam that didn't record your speed or track you via GPS.

Its a personal car camera - why would any driver with enough braincells voluntarily submit video evidence that would incriminate him/her self?

I don't think it's a question of volunteering. If you are in an accident, police can and will search and seize items from your vehicle if they think it will reveal any information leading to the cause.
You may not even be conscious or worse.

I drive like 95% of a saint. And I've been thinking this very thing. I think the good (ability to see who vandalized car, or worse) outweights the bad (ability to see you were speeding, went through a red light or drove drunk).

And the other 5%???? I can't discourage this enough.....it would indeed be nice to catch someone vandalizing your car...use it when parked then. However, I can assure you that the camera can be subpoenaed as evidence against you in a court of law....and God help you if you were doing something bad that ended up hurting another person. Losing a few dollars from vandalism is peanuts compared to the cost of losing a large liability claim filed against you.
