306HP to 328HP

The '10 only has 40 miles on it, its the same car I test drove and remember flooring it back then. However all the test driving was done by me so 95% of her mileage are mine which is ok. Just wanted to chime in on initial observations moving from an 08 G35X to a '10 G37xS, both with Nav.

I had always thought the move to the '10 was all about the interior. However subtle the exterior changes may be they make quite a difference. I chose the S cos I thought it looks much better. The front grille is done much nicer and there is a seam extending from the sides of the headlights all the way down to the lip, makes the car look aggressive. The 18" wheels most certainly look better.

What I was not expecting was what a HUGE difference the 7 AT makes over the 5 AT. The car is more mature now, there seems to have been liberal use of padding to prevent engine noise. The RPMs are almost always below 2k (I have not been on the highway yet). This was my 1st experience with the VVEL and 7 AT and have to admit, these mechanical changes made the car have the right balance of sport and luxury. The 5 AT was more on the sporty side.

The interior is now better, I have black on black. The NAV screen beats anything I have seen before, and I have been in the '10 S4. It now comes with 3D images, the window sticker on the 08 had "Nav with building footprints" the '10 has "Nav with 3D Images", I am yet to go into the city to test the difference. The leather certainly feels more refined, reminds me of the IS250 its closer to that than the '08. I am not sure but the seat heaters seems to work by blowing air through the perforations, I dont think this is how the '08 worked, I could be wrong. The mats feel like there are made of better materials from the '08. Generally speaking, the interior feels more luxurious now and is at par with the best.

Still to break her in, cant wait. Hope this helps anyone on the fence about the move from 5AT to 7AT

Pics: There is a bit of retardness on my end as I am still figuring out how to go about posting good quality pics. 31 Years old and still struggling with this, very sad indeed:(

Congrats, I think you made the right choice. I still look forward to drive my car every morning.

The seat heaters have heating elements in them, just like the 09 and 08.

Congrats. I'll be going from 306 to 328 this fall. Six more months, can't wait!

"The 5 AT was more on the sporty side."

Thanks for saying that!

honestly, doing a manual shift mode w the 7at makes it fun

Thanks everyone. I was convinced the driving experience would not be that different but was pleasantly suprised, my test drives were just about flooring it. I will check again this weekend as I normally use it then to see if the seat heaters are blowing air or not but I am convinced I felt this. 7AT + VVEL FTW:biggthumpup:

Agreed, just picked mine up and I have a 35-40 mile commute to work on the highway everyday. Dropping into manual mode and spinning down the gears is thrilling with the 7AT. It feels like the engine can just keep on going and going.

Hey congrats. My G37x is my first Infiniti G series ever, but I am tempted to see if I can test drive a used G35 sometime just so I can compare going the other way.

Just ask the dealer or read the manual. Page 2-39 says "The front seats are warmed by built in heaters."

so still no seat coolers in the 2010?

the convertible does... i wonder why not.

i wonder if they fixed the transmission... a lot of people, including myself, are still having a lot of performance issues with this thing... hence the 5AT is more sporty comments all around.

OMG you just used the "M" word, sorry I dont read manuals and I know more than most dealers:)

The delivery is different, this thing warms up faster than the 08. I will take your word for it though. Thx

No cooled seats in the '10, FWIW I had an IS250 which had them. At no time have I ever thought I am missing something here.

Yeah, the seat heaters are heated by elements, not by air. I do wish the active ventilated seats had been added to the '10 sedan since they're in the convertible now, but it's not a big thing. During my test drive of the G37 I did find that its seat heaters don't get as hot as the ones in my S4 or my wife's MINI. That was a bit disappointing since I often use those to help with fatigue on longer drives, but overall they were decent.

I had a FX50 as a loaner a few weeks back and it had cooled seats. I would imagine it's done by a Peltier type device since they're not ventalated. If the seat cools and heats by blowing air through holes then it usually says something like "ventilated seats" not just "heated and cooled seats".

I moved from X to xS. I am observing that the steering is much lighter on the '10. The'10 generally "feels" lighter. Is this due to the sport package (18" wheels & more sensitive steering response) or this was a change from the 07-8s to the 09s?
