easy mod?
hi
Sorry for the stupid question, but I miss the exhaust sound of my 06G35 coupe. Is there an easy mod to get a similar sound out of my 09 G37 sedan? I know nothing about spacers, exhaust, etc.
anyone have any recommendations? thanks

dont know where you live but try to find people in your area with different exhaust setups to compare. youtube is a decent place to research but remember clips sound different.

I would suggest you go with an axle-back system like the Megan or the Tanabe. Quick and easy with a little more aggressive of a sound.
HFC's will make it sound more aggressive, but raspiness is almost a guarantee. If it's not an issue to you, then you could also go with HFC's.

I am also interested in this as well. But could I ask everyone a noobie question about exhausts?
Am I getting this right?
Cat back Exhaust = Whole entire exhaust system
High flow cats = Only the middle part of the exhaust system
Axle back system = The end part of the exhaust where the air comes out

Cat Back = Replaces everything after the catalytic converters (Y-Pipe, mid pipe, resonators, muffler(s), tips)
HFC = High Flowing Catalytic converters. Replaces the factory restrictive catalytic converters with ones that perform essentially the same function but allow greater exhaust flow.
Axle Back = Replaces only the muffler(s) and tips. In come cases, replaces a part of the rear most section of the mid pipe.
Headers = Replacement part for OEM exhaust manifold (another area of exhaust restriction due to its inefficient design) that flows more freely and has equal exhaust paths for better exhaust flow.
At our meet this past Sunday I got to hear the Tanabe Axle Back on a 1st Gen sedan. It sounds wicked.

Thanks for the edification Black Betty.
I have a question: If you change the intake, does that also change the sound of the car? I would love to change the intake and install a new cat back for mine. I saw the new Stillen Intake (Gen 3 Ultra Long) on thier web site. I have not seen a shorter one and I am not sure if the Coupe ones fit the Sedan. I talked with my dealer and he stresses bolt on products to keep from voiding the warrantee. I do not see many things for G37 Sedans available. Where else can you find intakes and exhausts?

Intakes will not change the sound of your car unless you're past a certain rpm, however I did notice my exhaust note get a little louder after the intakes since more air in more air out..
You basically need to replace the muffler with an aftermarket one (Tanabe, Megan etc.. I'm not sure whats out for the Sedan though)
