An Automatic S sedan is like big foot. Everyone has heard of it but noone has seen it...

The good news is that all the dealers will eventually convince you that what you really want is the heavier AWD and that you will actually pay less for it becasue of the lower money factor. I am telling you now, you want a RWD auto sedan, its called a BMW 335. So the reality is, until they move all that stock they have siting since December, its either get a G37 RWD coupe or an XS sedan. Otherwise you are jsut looking for Big Foot.
I see big foot every day

Saltfish - Same here. I've had my G37S AT since late November. Wasn't aware I was the owner of such a rare animal

                                    Torque * RPM

        Horsepower      =       ------------

                                          5252
If you were to somehow magically give a G37 eninge the same power as big rig's and adjust the gearing accordingly you bet it would destroy everyone in acceleration. However, cars with more HP would be able to achieve higher speeds.

Basically torque gets you going and HP keeps you there. Gearing also plays a big role as it determines the torque delivered to the wheels.

Look at the W211 E55 vs the W211 E63. They're basically the same car except for the engine and transmission. However, the E55 has a broader torque range and more torque whereas the E63 has more horsepower. The E55 beats the E63 off the line however, the E63 will catch up and pass it. Even crusiing at 55 - 65 MPH the E55 will still initally pull ahead of the E63 but then the E63 will pass it. That's because the E55 has the acceleration advantage with more torque but at higher speeds the horsepower of the E63 wins out.
Then why does the bmw 335 have better 1/4 times than the G37? 335i has more torque but we have more hp, yet the 1/4 mile times are slightly better with the bimmer. I'm just trying to make sense of it, I'm not a bimmer guy. I own a G and not terribly thrilled about the performance but it is much better than the average car.

From my research, they are about the same weight too!

Also the 0-60 is claimed to be faster with the bimmer (~4.6s vs like ~5.0s or so)...as expected with the slightly higher torque
