G37 Coupe of Curb Damage on new 20's

Ugh! .I already scraped a curb in my own Cul De Sac and damaged my passenger side rims. ** Damaged rims shown in bottom 2 pics**
2008 G37 Journey Coupe Premium Obsidian Black (non Sport brakes) on staggered 20staggered 20s

I ended up winning Fantasy Football and planned on replacing the damaged rim ( 20x10) however I bought a whole new set of 4.
Installed now; Staggered 20". 8.5 front/ 10 rear (38/38 offset) (stock height & without spacers) ... although I already have 15mm (1") spacers in my garage in which would put things perfectly flush. I was just going to buy one 20x10 rim to replace the rear but since they are EOL I figured that it never hurts to have spares.... So now I have 8 of the same exact rims but the fronts on the new pair has a lower offset ET30 vs ET38 installed.
New set of 20s : 8.5 front/ 10 rear (30/38 offset)Fronts changing offsets from 38 to 30 willl result in + 5mm
I may end up having the rashed ones refinished. If the refinish doeanr appease me then they will be

Minor curb rash on new 20x8.5" Concept One CSM01 spokes. Offset: 38 /no spacers/stock suspension.Discount Tire said tire was fine and then cut off the 2 loose rubber pcs. The replacement fronts I got are Offset 30 which will stick out 5mm more so I will prob install the 15mm (1") spacers I purchased but didn't have I stalled initially. So.now I have 4x8.5 (2@30ET +2@38ET) and 4x10" (all 38ET). Tbh I think the damage is mostly only noticed by me. 08 G37 Coupe Journey Premium black

The rear suffered more damage. 20x10s 38 offset I'll prob take these to a pro to try and restore. I'd really prefer to run all 10"s as when I initially purchased these online. I was expecting the front to also be concave and to match the rear 'spiderlegs'. I tried to sand the rear rim but probably made things worse.
Depending on what the wheel refinish specialist says will determine my next step. I want to run 4x10" for the concave look to be the same on all 4 rims but don't think 10s will fit in the front. Either way I will likely end up w/ an alloy set of 4 + a black set of four. I'm also trying to locate 3' black infiniti logo to replace the CONCEPT ONE sticker.

Does anyone know if it's possible to run 20x10 on a 08 Journey Coupe or have experience with dealing with curbrash repair on aftermarket rims?

I think Ive seen one w/ 10s in front and rear on the forum. If you have 20x10s can you advise of fender rolling or rubbing issues?

Question; Murder it out or just replace the rear rim with spoke damage? As of now I'm just leaving things as they are. My focus is getting rid of the chrome on the front grille and the trunk lip.

Yea you can

Yea, I think many have ran a staggered 20" setup. I ran MRR GT1s. The fronts were 8.5" wide w/ +25 offset and the rears were 10" w/+30 offset. I did no body modifications and was at factory height on the stock sport suspension.

Offset is going to vary by wheel, so make sure you get your calculation right and work with a good shop.

Good luck

I have staggered twenties on now (8.5/38) but curbed the passenger side.... ordered same rims but new fronts (are 8.5/ET30) so I'm glad to hear 25s fit no problemo. Current 8.5 offset 38 need one inch spacer ,(which I have) and then I'll be flush on the front for my non Sport & (10/38) on rear which are flush and wanna know if 10/38 can fit on front with stock suspension.

Do you think the damage is even that noticewble to replace at this point,?

Have you considered choosing a more durable rim width/tire ratio combo?

I too live on a culdesac, and I park my coupe outside at the curb, very easy to damage some wheels setups that exaggerate rim face hangout.

I have staggered 20's on my AWD coupe, and I chose a rim width/tire width setup that actually protects my rim. Not as trendy as some people seem to be doing with a rim face hanging out, but I prefer some sidewall to protect the rim from MINOR curb bumps.

My sidewall protrudes about 1/4" from the rim lip:

Are you' running 20s on the front?! That is my mine question. Discount Tire didn't offer diff sizes as maybe they were out of stock. May I ask offset for yours? I felt my 38s in rear were pretty flush. I also took my 1" spacers when I initially Installed I'm not a fan of murdered out rims on a black car as evey black car has them now but I hate the chrome trunk lip and stock grille. If they can restore my rear damaged rim then I'd like to leave the alloy and roll all 10s. I son't care about speed cause I drove slow due to a legal issues from 10+ yrs ago on a a NYE.

And I'm usually riding dirty. Lol

When I got my 20s I curbed a rear wheel in the first few weeks, bought a replacement then curbed the front. Then later curbed the same side rear again. Later a bump in the road put a flat spot in the other front. After a year I basically bought a whole new set one or two at a time.

I was coming from cars with a much smaller wheel base and it took a bit tu get used to this one. I'd suggest you live with it until you know it won't happen again. It's your stuff so it will bother you the most but I've seen much worse rash.

Yes, I am running 20's on front. I also have Akebono brakes, here's my setup:
  • Wheel Brand & Model: Enkei "Lusso"
  • Wheel Sizes, including offset: 20x8.5 ET40, 20x9.5 ET40
  • Tire sizes: front: 245/35/20 rear:285/30/20 (Continental DWS06)
  • Wheel weight (if known):31 pounds front, 33 pounds rear with tires 54 front, 59 rear
  • Big Brake clearance:yes Akebono front and rear front needs min. 10mm spacer, rear does not need
  • If Spacers are being used: Front 15mm H&R DRM Rear none
  • AWD Q60 lowered on Swift springs
That first pic I showed my front wheels tucked a bit, but when I added Akebono brakes I used a 15mm spacer up front (effective offset went from 40 to 25) and it flushed the front wheels, which matches the back, which are 9.5" ET40. Well, when I say "flush" I mean it is nearly flush, what some people call "flush" looks pokey to me.

My apologies I had meant to ask if you were running 4* 20"*10" (but I see u have 8.5" in front and 9.5s in rear". I'm trying to run 4x20*10s but not sure it's a possibility (maybe with a fender role and some slight mods). I'ma be honest I don't now much about Camber as this is all news to me so I prob need to have that checked on out as well. Will Discount Tire advise on Camber by chance? I have the 2008 Journey G37; Coupe Premium and every tire site shows 9.5" as max however I swear I saw a forum user rolling on 4 20x10s before.

Got a flat on my stock rim when Discount Liar told me 30offset would not fit the front but they do.
glad I bought a second pair... Fronts: 20"x8.5" ET30 (no big brakes here). .... Rear: 20"x10"s ET38

Rears 20"x10" . Stock suspension. little poke. See me driving slow. Sorry so dirty. Detail plus mod pics coming soon!

Complete pic... 2nd pair of CSM01 CONCEPT staggered

Fronts seem ok.

REARs may need some fender rolling but I haven't felt a rub yet.
I also have a spare mint rear rim left over. Since these are EOL I gotta be careful!

Man I hear ya on that! My car was recently side-swiped by an uninsured driver, fortunately didn't hurt my wheels (the tire sidewall protected them, again) but when my curiosity caused me to check if my wheels are replaceable, nope. Out of stock and out of production. EOL as you say. Gotta be more careful, may buy a set of spares too!

It drives much better with offsets 30 on the front in which I was worried would not fit. I do not have the big brakes. Offset 38 in rear. Removed all of the spare tire plastic lining in the trunk and have a stock rim as a spare.

I have 10" rears so I was told they could not fit the 10" in the fronts.
