Is a NISMO plate frame tacky?

Wanted to buy the nismo license plate frame and put it on my g37 lol, would that be tacky since nismo don’t do anything with Infiniti?

Do whatever you want brother; it's your car. Personally, it wouldn't bother me one way or another.

I mean the G37 is essentially a 370z in a heavy tux so to each his own. I have a Nismo gas cap cover. Although I do have a Top Secret emblem attached over the Nismo logo lol. I thought about getting one of those Nismo mats for working on your car in the garage.

It’d be kind of pretentious IMO if you don’t actually have any Nismo parts on the afternoon at all. Ricey.

I have one on my G37 sedan. It was a gift from my wife when I had my G35 (also sedan) with the Nismo aero package and a bunch of other goodies.

Honestly, I like it, and like I said, it was a gift.

Your car, your call. I say do it. I hear stickers also add some front wheel horsepower.

BTW part number 999MB-AV000BK.

Someone should make a "post ur nismo paraphernalia" thread to share. Would be cool to see Wat kinds of tacky nismo stuff people have lol. I saw on eBay there's a nismo grill badge that lights up. Less tacky then infiniti logo emblem light. I got some tacky nismo stuff lol

Yes, it is. Would not put one on my Z or G unless the Z were a Nismo--even then, there's a badge already on the car itself and you can tell one when it is and when it isn't. Every time a guy does this to their non-Nismo car 10 dudes are laughing behind him in traffic.

What is on your car is what you communicate out to the world. Choose wisely.

There's not that many people that would even know what NISMO even means. I can go through my building and find less than 5 people who know what NISMO represents. Chances are, the people behind you in traffic will care as much as any other non-enthusiast. People slap political stickers and polarizing opinions all over their cars. Much more likely to get a rise out of someone vs. a NISMO sticker...

As an enthusiasts' POV...It's not like an M badge, AMG badge or a Cobra emblem...NISMO models are barely more than body kits at this point. Maybe a slight power bump? No different than a Mugen SI.

Are the people putting IPL gear on non-IPL G37s any different? It's not a IPL from factory so are they posers as well?

That's not entirely true. Once he installs his NISMO plate frame, he will have exactly one (1) nismo part. Just saying.

But overall I agree, it would be pretentious to advertise performance parts that you don't have. And that's coming from a guy who's trunk declares he's driving an Infiniti Skyline.

nismo is not only a car trim. they make lots of performance parts for nissans esp for the gtrs, skylines, and z and the little cars too. its just no one buys it bc its so expensive and hard to buy. or just no one buys it. being nissans performane brand i rep it with my nismo oil change badge under my hood.

ipl on the other is pretty much absolutely nothing. it was offered once and to one car only. its not even worth buying the emblem to put on your car lol

if anyones interested feel free to browse the 2019 nismo catalogue

I have a tail of the dragon license plate frame. Probably fewer people even know what that is.

Bet that was fun. My father in law went and has a sticker on his Ultra Classic.

It'd probably be smarter to forgo the plate cover in the name of weight reduction, we're heavy enough as it is. Then add a Nismo sticker, everybody knows stickers add HP. Seriously though, aesthetics are always going to be subjective, at the end of the day it's your car, you pay for it, you drive it, and you stare at it, if you like it, then go for it.
