Just got into an accident

Hey guys, just got into an accident and got hit on the side.
Everything was submitted to my insurance and now we play the waiting game. Car is fully insured

What do you guys think the extent of this damage is?
Driver's door airbags deployed and I cannot open it.

Kind of depends on mileage and year. The qp is what costs alot to repair. With the airbags and qp damage I'd say its totaled due to the nature of parts cost and depreciation of the G and Z cars.

Its a 2015 Q60S with 43k on it. I figured thats what is going to happen

Infinibini 05-13-2019 01:50 AM

Dang. Sorry to hear that. Nice car. How hard did it hit you if the airbags inflated? Are you ok? Did the airbag smash your head? It seems like they blow up pretty hard.

It seems crazy to total the car but it costs so much to repair them I guess they might. If there is frame damage that changes things, but if not, I cannot imagine it costing more than 10k to repair.

Evorus5 05-13-2019 01:54 AM

Yeah I'm okay, the airbags gave me a couple cuts on my neck and also somewhat on my back. thanks you for asking.

I honestly don't know if there is any frame damage, I hope not but I won't know until it gets checked out.
These guys leave out of the shop he came out of white out looking, they speed out and burnout. He hit me pretty hard without looking.

Insurance companies RARELY will repair a car with deployed bags.

They don't want to be liable if they were re-installed wrong and NOT deploy the next time it gets into an accident.

Glad you're okay, but I'm afraid your car is toast.

Sorry to hear about your car but I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt. KBB says it's worth around $20k (private party value without knowing the specs of your car) so I would guess that they'll fix it assuming there isn't any frame damage. GL!

By frame, I assume you mean unibody?

josephwhan 05-13-2019 04:13 PM

Damn that sucks man. Sorry to hear. When airbags are deployed like that though... it'll be hard to not be deemed totaled.

It’s a total loss had the same incident but on my front fender got t boned. The cost of the airbags is too much

Sorry about your accident.
I hope That you did not get hurt, and can bounce back quickly.
It looks like you car protected you well
Still, it sucks that your car got damaged, and that you now have to deal with insurance claims etc.
Wishing you the best of luck and good fortune

Hey guys,
Thank all for the kind words, I really appreciate it.
The insurance wrote off the car as a total loss, figured they were going to do so.
Now I just wait for the check and begin looking for a new one

Infinibini 05-22-2019 12:40 AM

Did they give you enough to replace it or did they gyp you hardcore?
