Test pipes smokes with heat wrap

just wrapped my test pipes with heat wrap. I did not sprayed it with high temp coating because no stores around me hasd them so I ordered online. I can see my test pipes are smoking and it smells like burned plastic. I can see it from my wheels and hood abit. Could this mean because high temperature coating isnt on the wrap because is smoking? Or is just not good brand. I ordered one of the best rated one on amazon alot of good reviews.

I've done the same with my ART pipes. Just let the chemicals burn off and you will be fine.

I'd take that wrap off.

Will cause pipes to crack. Look it up.

^depends on the test pipe. if they are ebays then yea that cheap chinese steel will crack with all the heat being retained in them. If they are a high quality test pipe then you SHOULD be fine wrapping them.

If you are going to wrap it do it right, which means sealing the wrap and making sure every single part of it is covered. Other wise your going to allow moisture to get trapped under the wrap and causing the test pipe to crack.
You are better off just having it ceramic coated.

people talk about it on every board and it will happen the pipes will crack doesn't matter how good they are..
