FI Test Pipes + Muffler Delete = Too loud
I realize the resonates test pipes are probably a significant contributor to the sound output at highway speeds.
Currently I have two can resonators installed to the stock piping. I kept the stock tips and had them welded to each resonator can. Love the RTPs btw.
Would a a true dual CBE installed behind the test pipes quiet the overall exhaust sound?
I removed the stock muffler due to a rattle inside the muffler. Rattle is gone but it’s too loud. Thoughts?

Depends on the CBE. I've driven with test pipes and muffler delete before and it was crazy loud so I kept swapping different things.
I currently have the ARK exhaust paired with ART pipes and the sound is noticeable but I don't consider it loud since the ARK has resonators + mufflers. On the other hand, if you bought the Motordyne exhaust, it only has a resonator and a helmholtz chamber (no muffler) so it'll still be loud (but not as loud as your current set up, just a tad quieter). I don't have much experience with any other catbacks
Simply put, you need a catback with either a longer resonator or a muffler if you want to quiet it down. Or you need HFC

Thanks axis. I’m researching an Ark Grip CBE. Found an old thread that members mentioned the Ark was quieter than others. I think I’m going to have finally go for a CBE. I like the test pipes too much to get rid of them.

I've watched hundreds of videos and read through dozens and dozens of exhausts threads here over the past 5 years, I have come to the conclusion that most exhausts sound the best, have the least rasp, less drone, whatever, when paired with its same brand. That's just my opinion. A lot of good choices out there though and plenty of mix/match setups that sound good.
Post up a video once you get it installed.

Thanks for the feedback. It’s helpful to hear from others. I had heard it read that the FI CBE was louder than the Ark CBE (stock for stiock). I’m sure the RTP is a huge contributor to the current sound. I can tell when the sound is coming from the test pipe vs the existing resonators. My goal like most is less drone and overall sound under the power curve (5-7k RPM).

I have the z1 non resonated test pipes I installed last Saturday paired with a Megan racing y and muffler delete, and man this thing is LOUD even on low rpms specially on the freeway 70-80 mph it drones like crazy! Planning on buying Vibrant ultra quiet resonators to replace the order ones and either the Megan racing muffler or going back to oem, will purchase in a few weeks and keep you updated on the sound

My original intention was to have a CAI AND RTP and keep the stock exhaust. But, after the install of the Stillen Gen 3 and FI TP, my stock muffler developed a rattle. I then deleted the mufflers and replaced with resonators while keeping the stock tips for looks. It’s just way too loud overall.
I’ve never had a true dual CBE installed in any previous vehicle. I’m looking forward to a complete exhaust setup.

UPDATE
Had the Ark Grip CBE installed today. Packaging, fitment and install went smoothly. First impressions upon startup? Wow. Night and day difference between my previous setup. Sound is deep, smooth and not raspy.
I’ll post a video clip in the next day or so. Overall, I’m extremely pleased with the results. My main objective was to ‘quiet’ down the overall tone to increase drivability on the street and highway. Objective accomplished.
Here are are a few pics before a more extensive review which will follow.
Out with the old and in with the new.
Thanks again to Logan and Will at AWAutomotive in WA state.
Stock exhaust tips with 12” resonators attached to stock piping.
Breathing mods complete - Stillen Gen 3; Fast Intentions Resonated Test Pipes; and Ark Grip Performance CBE.
