Considering 2015 Q60s Limited

I am considering getting a 2015 Q60s limited. The one I am looking at has low miles(about 15k) and is in a very good condition. I used to have a 2011 G37 sedan and I remember how frustrating the 7 speed auto was in that car. I am hoping that things changed for the 2015 model. It is also the limited edition which, maybe, would make a difference in that department. I would really appreciate your input guys on this car. It would be ideal if you have this particular one (2015 Q60s limited) but any info is appreciated!

My main concern is the lag and gear hunting...otherwise the car is perfect for me. Please share your thoughts! Thanks!!

Hopefully it's a local sale and you can take it for a long test, that's the only real way to see if the 7AT is performing as you want. I've heard there's been improvement in the overall operation, but since you have experience w/ a previous 7AT you'll be able to tell if the difference is substantial or minimal. Hopefully you'll notice enough improvement to seal the deal but ???

I have a 2014 Q60S, don't know what the limited adds except the IPL body kit and different exhaust tips. In standard mode my car gear hunts sometimes and will delay downshifting when I punch it occasionally. I haven't driven any previous model to compare my experience but it can be annoying at times. In sport mode it is much more responsive. This is actually the first auto car I've owned so maybe that adds to my frustration. I haven't tried the ecu reset yet because it happens so rarely.

edit: It seems as though some of the later Q60S models had the IPL kit for some reason but not all and not only the limited editions.

limited does not have IPL kit, only the wheels but in black. You may have that similar issue as the trans never changed. The limited looks awesome, especially in that reddish color.

I have a 2014 Q60 AWD. The 7AT is occasionally recalcitrant to shift. It only seems to happen at lower speeds in the 30's and after I have been driving calmly for a while. Compared to my 5AT Titan, it is slightly annoying as the 5AT in my Titan shifts perfectly 100% of the time for 10 years straight so far. The 7AT in my 2014 absolutely never hunts. It is 99% perfect, except for that one issue I just mentioned.
My Q60 is replacing a leased 2016 GTI DSG which has a highly acclaimed DSG transmission. The DSG isn't perfect either, it can go into "Corolla" mode at times, and when in "S" mode can hold gears WAYYYYY too long. So, as a replacement for my GTI the 7AT is fine. Just not as good as Nissan's excellent 5AT that is in my Titan.

Thanks for your responses! Yeah the limited edition was new for 2015. Besides some cosmetic stuff like black mirrors, wheels and the spoiler, they added performance exhaust (probably the one from the IPL), added 18 more horses - 348hp vs 330hp and 276 torque vs 270 in the regular and S model. The car looks amazing, you are right Kishp14..

I jus google a pic of this limited edition. It's funny that I've never seen this model on the road or on this forum lol.

I've never heard of or seen this model. Being a 2015, they probably sold very few of these relatively ancient cars.
sounds like a cool version, probably has paddle shifters which basically remedies the occasional laggy shift.

Those of you who have the S version with paddle shifters, how do you like them? Are they pretty responsive?

I like the paddle shifters, they aren't DCT fast but they will do when cruising around town feeling sporty. I love the low speed downshifts with my catback exhaust. If you can test drive one put it in sport mode and flick through the gears.

Got a chance to drive it today. They did put some effort into reprogramming the transmission, it is much smoother compared to the one in my 2011 G37. Paddle shifters work fine even though they are not as fast as what I had in my 335is. The car is a beast and the steering is so nice compared to the new Q60. The car doesn’t feel or look ancient at all...the design is timeless...actually feels like a proper sport coupe. I test drove Q60 red sport last week and while it does have the power and subjectively nicer looks, to me it does not have the soul of this 2015 Qs. Just imho. Thank you everyone for your input!!
