My g37 was stolen!
I got woken up at 3am by cops to ID the car, and holy **** it was mine, the bumper is on the ground hood popped open, it's back with me but it doesnt recognize the key... I'm planning to take it to the mechanic, anything I can do without getting the tow truck?

I was trying to tow my car but the parking lot where the guy was taking it apart got really packed towards the morning, so the tow guy recommended locksmith who came in with a computer, plugged it in and in 5 minutes my key was working again, it looked way too easy. Paid him 150$ now getting ready to pay another 190$ for the passanger window. Now I'll never be able to sleep knowing how easy it is to steal my car.

Nah my car is automatic, but the kid was driving srt jeep, which I think is manual, so it wouldnt have stopped him if my car was manual lol. This thing lock bar or what ever its called is old school but I bet its effective! But I wanted to go for something more modern, was thinking about a good alarm system, or some kind of kill switch

OP - sorry for your frustration. always a rotten feeling when some low-life d-bag violates your stuff.
as for anti-theft, my wife used to have a car with some crazy kill sequence before starting. you had to turn on the lights, left turn signal, and some other accessory before it would start. and it was a manual too. i'm sure there were ways to defeat the kill sequence, but time after time auto mechanics were confounded and had to call her in an emergency. reminds me of the newer Mad Max flick where Furiosa had a kill sequence.
my fall-back has always been a spotless interior and the Club. if they want the car they'll get it with enough time, but i'm not giving them a temptation by leaving all sorts of junk lying around the interior. it always surprises me how many cars leave visible valuables or stuff that may have value to a criminal/junkie. asking for trouble...

Updated. Looks like a couple Nissan products made the top 20 most stolen cars this year (2023): https://www.marketwatch.com/story/th..._date=20230905
