Help - Headlight confusion, need clarification

Hey guys, so I just need to get something cleared up. Basically, my friend and I were baking my headlights to open it up and reseal it to block out moisture. So when we were doing this we broke the clip that held in the H1 bulb which the manual specifies as a fog light but my friend said it was the high beam. The manual says that the D2S bulb is both for the low beam and high beams, is this true? Because when we left out one of the H1 bulbs due to the broken clip, my high beams were dimmed which led me to believe that that bulb powered the high beams. Can someone explain which bulb functions the high beam and if it is indeed the D2s bulb then why did my high beams dim when I lost one of the H1 bulbs? If it is not the D2S, then why does Infiniti say that the D2S is both the low and high beam? My car is a 2009 base coupe.

need to tell people the year and body style of your car as I believe the headlights can be different depending on year and coupe/sedan.

D2S is both high and low beam. It uses a shutter to control the cutoff. The H1 is your fog light. If you have your fog lights on (H1 bulb) and put the high beams on the car will turn that bulb off until you turn the high beams off.

This makes sense, but can you explain to me then why my high beams are amber but my low beams are white?

Go park in front of a wall in the dark with your low beams on. Switch high beams on and all that should change is the beam pattern. Colour should be no different.

Yes that is what I mean. When I flash the high beams, there is a clear change in color from a white 5k looking low beam to straight up amber.
