11.2 1/4mile custom rear mount turbo

Hey fellas been a while that i post on here. usually do more of the facebook thing but decided to go ahead and post here cause well its a G37 forum right.?

well anyways. here is my 08 g37 163k miles 6spd with a custom rear mount turbo i made my self in my driveway. made 537whp 460tq at 11psi. not too shabby for a rear mount..

this past friday i went to the track and broke my previous record of a 11.9 and now its a 11.2 at 124mph.

Here are some pics.

Hell yeah man, I want to be the first to say congrats and way to go against the grain! I am a huge fan of rear mounts, I brought it up here and the Z boards awhile ago and have always defended the idea but pretty much only got the ignorant negative comments about lag and to just pony up the $10k for twins.. Hope to see more about it. I think I saw it on YouTube and noticed there were a couple corners cut but hey, numbers speak for themselves and you can upgrade the small things along the way.

Edit: Are you going to start a build thread and show your progress along the way and the parts you used?

I personally like the idea of a rear mounted turbo... I have also seen a pic or two of a turbo mounted by the side of the transmission.

Anyway, interested on seeing more pic of your setup. And perhaps, as suggested, a build thread.

Would you be willing to post details on what went into the setup and the work you performed yourself? I think you would inspire members to do the same.

Great work, I follow the build on FB/YouTube.

His youtube link ( https://www.youtube.com/user/Astat4/videos) has all the build progress... its a decent build for a comfortable price and anyone is one a budget should DEF do it. as you can see OP did it in his driveway. and you can to. if you want it, hit him up and he can build you a kit.

So basically I did this the cheapest/easiest route I could possibly do. ii spent a total of $1500 in hardware/turbo stuff like 2 lots of 2.5" piping, CX racing twin turbo intercooler, vsracing turbo and wastegate, fake greddy bov(upgraded to hks ssqv) eBay 3.7gph scavange Pump, 4an feed line, return is a transmission hose

II already had upgraded clutch, uprev, bigger injectors and pump cause I was on e85 and still am. 1000cc injectors and a maxed out walbro 255 pump..

In my videos on YouTube I went pretty depth about my build so people don't go and spend an outrageous money on a kit to making mid to high 400s. Even with a name.brand turbo. You'll still be cheaper than a name brand kit.

Love it. If you had to go back and start over, would you do anything differently?

My exhaust. As of now I'm still using a 370z/g37 stock Exhaust. All I did was chop off the passenger side of the mid pipe where it separates into 2 after the y pipe and blocked off it off So the flow is somewhat restricted.. my long tubes are 2.5, y pipe is 2.25. I'd I'd like to make it a smooth flow from 2.5 to 2.25. not just a dramatic decrease of connection of pipes I'd that makes sense.. other than that I have not had any problem. I probably shoulda used a smaller turbo cause what I have is a huge but it makes power when needed. (Gt45 1.05ar twin scroll but I made a block off plate for one scroll)

This is glorious. I appreciate you sharing and will be tuning in to follow this.

Edit: Are you still considering selling kits? Would Probably be a hit here at the price.

A full kit could be a option I just purchased a tig welder so I still have alot to learn with Tig welding. Mig was alot easier.

I planned on making a hot side and cold side kit that way you guys choose the type of bov, wg, and turbo.. specifically cause people dont like eBay/cheap stuff. They'd rather use name brand stuff
