Question about Transmission fluid replacement and others!
Hi there,
My G is 2009 coupe base 91k, I want to change transmission fluid but idk if I should bring it to dealer or buy the fluid and change at the mechanics store? Dealer has a package is 630 for all the fluids. If I should change at the store so what kind of fluids i should buy and how many quarts? I saw some ppl buy amsoils but the owner manual said it should be oem fluids!
- 2nd question: I want to change my brake too, do you guys know exactly the size of the rotors? My wheels are 19" but the brake is base, no sport model.
Thank you so much for ya helps!!!

Well for fluids, since you mentioned it, AMSOIL and OEM are your best bet. Others will argue OEM only but Nissan/Infiniti don't make fluid, they rebrand one of the aftermarket companies. Its not unicorn blood..
As for non Sport brakes, I highly recommend ordering OEM rotors and pads from one of the dealers/vendors in the marketplace here. If you want to upgrade for aftermarket parts, do some searching and read some reviews.

The ATF service from dealers can vary quite a bit. Some just do a simple 1x drain & fill, some do the full 3x drain & fill (which is what I would do with your mileage), and some do a flush, I wouldn't recommend doing the flush, it can dislodge residue and debris that can get into the AT internals, this service doesn't have a specific procedure in teh FSM (factory service manual) so I would avoid doing that.
Here's a DIY ATF procedure that I've done, works out well and since you drop & clean the pan and magnets it's a thorough procedure.

For 600$ they better do the 3x, I hate to say go to the dealer, but maybe find an import guy who doesn't have a bunch of teenagers doing the work and possibly damaging your transmission due to incompetence. Most Hondas, Chryslers, and others have the same no flush warning on their transmissions. So a reputable mechanic with experience in these finnicky type of cars might be an option.

IMHO a total flush of trans fluid every 30 k without any cleaners is the best proactive maintenance for a transmission. Why is it some will change the engine oil every 3 to 6 thousand miles but never address the transmission, rear end, transfer case, brake fluid, power steering fluid, coolant. I change belts and hoses at no more than 100 k as I do not want to sit on the road side with a blown hose on a Sunday night ( usually a holiday) waiting for a tow due to a $20 hose that blew all my coolant. I was a test driver for 1 of the big 3 and saw all the scenarios of neglect vs maintenance scenarios.
