Good quality third party AC compressor

Hello All,

Recently my AC compressor stopped working. I have been browsing online and the OEM (92600JK20B) is too expensive (700$ mark).

I have a G37s 2008 and I really dont want to spend too much on since I am planning to buy a new car soon.

Do you know any third party manufacturers that deliver quality products? I have found tons on ebay but not sure if they are good or not.

Thanks all!

Id say you're on the right track. eBay is very reliable for replacement parts, just make sure to buy one with a warranty, money back guarantees and great feedback, should be dime a dozen sellers like that.

Or you could look at RockAuto for a reman. There are several companies that do remanufactured parts, Dorman is the big one that stands out. They're cheap and you get some of your money back for the core return. Remanufacrured parts are perfect for older, higher mileage cars that you're going to get rid of in the near future.

Reman parts are just as good as OEM, if not better with sometimes revised O-rings and updated parts. Regardless if you keep or sell your car, I see nothing wrong whatsoever with reman parts, most offer better warranties than OEM parts too.

I've heard a lot of good things about Reman as well

I agree, but just to qualify my statement, a lot of parts available as remanufactured tend to be high mileage parts. Things like AC compressors, alternators, steering racks, etc. The OEM units usually survive 100K miles easy. So it's not worth it to buy new replacements from the dealer unless you're expecting to keep the car for another 100K miles. That's where the reman versus OEM debate comes in - usually they just replace seals and smaller internal components, so maybe they don't last as long as whole new OEM units. But those kinds of differences show up in the longevity of the part. So in this case, instead of getting 100K out of the part, maybe you get 60-70K out of it. Totally fine if you're not planning to get a million miles out of the car. And yes, they usually come with a 1-2 year warranty, which also covers you if you're planning to get rid of the car in the near future.

^^ ah, yeah I totally agree, they do reuse as many things as they can to keep pricing down and pass the savings to the customer. Hard to say how long a rebuilt item would last compared to a completely brand new item. I guess every parts reliability would differ depending on how intricate it was. I remember ordering a steering rack years ago and was instantly faulty and filled the boots with fluid but they sent another over night free of charge so, no skin off my back.

4 seasons is a pretty decent after market brand a/c compressor manufacturer. or you can try sanden which may be on the pricier side if they make it for your car. do not go for reman a/c compressors, they do not hold up
