Getting bored with my '08 G37S.. Keep vs. BMW?
Mods: apologies in advance if this thread is in the wrong forum.
I purchased my (2008) liquid silver platinum G37 Coupe Sport with 43k miles about 20 months ago... I paid more than it was worth... and purchased a CarMax extended warranty (that just expired, that I didn't use). Lesson learned. I've modified it slightly.. painted calipers, Tail-as-Turn module, Takeda SRI, Cusco strut tower, CF steering wheel trim, GTR start button. But I'm starting to get bored with it, and I don't want to spend more money on mods. Coupled with the fact that for the price I paid for the G37.. I could've gotten a 2010-2013 BMW 3-series. A used 2013 335i sedan with 30k miles just popped up (salvage title, $19k sticker), red leather seats, turbo, 4 doors.. It's enticing. But I've always heard BMW's reliability is very poor. Anyone here own or have owned a 3-series? |
I was in the same situation as you but I owned my G37 coupe for 8 years. Had Infiniti Elite warranty which I never used. Always wanted a 335 but didn't choose it. Rather went with a E92 M3 and never looked back.
Modded 335's are fast believe me but for me riding in a 3 series got me jealous every time I saw a M3. P.S never buy a salvaged BMW |
More like, never by a BMW. Unreliable, over priced and its the ultimate "Douche mobile" too. Same goes with Mercedes and Audi. Stick with Japanese and laugh at the BMW owners who are on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck.
My next car is either going a slightly used 2016 WRX or a 2016 Honda Accord coupe, V6 manual. Just my outspoken 2 cents |

Just my outspoken 2 cents In all honesty, everyone and their mom and pop have a BMW, Audi or Benz nowadays. I do not see many people driving with an G37. I guess its totally up to you if you want a reliable car vs. not so reliable. |
I would avoid anything with a salvage title.

Anyone here own or have owned a 3-series? With all that being said they look and drive really nice but i would HIGHLY suggest not buying one with a salvage title. |

The E92 M3 is really at the top of my list.. the growl of that 4.0L V8 is pure sex. Extremely apprehensive regarding a salvaged title in general.. but the deal on this F30 is almost too good.
Thanks for your input! How has your E92 been maintenance-wise? It's not that bad. I can turn a wrench so do all the work myself. Fluids are pretty much double infiniti price. Oil is not much of a difference. About 130 ish for 9 liters w/ filter. I use to pay about $90 for the G with redline oil and filter. |

Guess it depends where you live. I see 20+ Infiniti's everyday

The 6 Series coupe (650i) is a nice ride. That would be my next ride if it came in a manual.
The M6 does but that's 100k+ |
Long but good review. Fast forward to 19:45 where he talks about the engine issues. |
