Turning your g37x to rwd

hey guys, I recently bought a g37x and was wondering how to make it a fun rwd car when the weather was dry out. I found almost nothing after looking for an easier solution than going behind the glovebox and disconnecting the awd solenoid. Instead if you check the fuse box located next to the batter, you'll find a fuse labeled ETS SOL. after removing this fuse and driving about 300 ft the car should sense that awd system is getting no power and is thus malfunctioning, from what I understand this lights up the awd light on the dash meaning that the car has disengaged the awd system and put it into a fail safe rwd system until the problem is solved. I was wondering if this could possible cause any problems in the awd system , which I don't think it will since it puts it into a fail safe mode. Thanks ahead of time!

Really ?????? go buy a non-x model and give it a rest. I can't believe some of the things I've read on this forum the past few years. Things have changed since the good 'ol days.

The only time I'd want the car to be able to lock into rwd is when I want to do dumb stuff in winter. Although awd slides are cool too.

Heaven forbid someone wants to enjoy their car and be able to slide around without destroying a set of tires.

Anyway, there is a DIY in here where you can cut/splice the AWD wire to a switch... Some say it works... Some don't. If you search you can find it.

I learned the hard way and bought the x not the 6mt. If I could go back in time...

I don't think it is worth messing with drivetrain just to have RWD. Be happy with the car you got, or get another one. IJS.

Its like 40/60 (f/r) anyway right? Why is this such a big deal? Its basically a rear wheel drive car anyway

Agreed!!! This is a place to share knowledge not be criticized for what we do with our own vehicles.

The problem is what he wants to do with the car is potentially dangerous and what he wants to do with said mod is also dangerous. I doubt he really cares what you do with your own car, but don't come here and tell everyone you want to purposely make your car unsafe to do something stupid from time to time and not expect some backlash

How would turning your awd car into a rwd car be dangerous and unsafe? It's not like the G wasn't rwd first.

I did this mod to my previous G35x sedan and installed a kill switch for the VDC/TC as well. (When VDC is off, the TC is still on to a degree.) I essentially drove all summer with the AWD and VDC/TC off.

Considering he is talking about cutting wires that tell the computer to disengage the AWD I'd say the potential is there. And god forbid he cuts the wrong thing and kills the tcu from working properly...whatever, he will do what he wants but why not just get a rwd to begin with? I am sure that was easier to find than X model to ruin.
