I understand that both of these really are SRIs but why is the R2C more expensive? I hear some people saying the R2C is the best SRI, is there some explanation for this?

Which one will sound nicer/louder?

Which one will give better gains? (With a tune, I assume both of them have near 0 gains without a tune).

Is the R2C really worth the extra money? Some feedback from owners of these intakes would be much appreciated.

IMO, SRI's have a relatively limited benefit to begin with on our cars, tuned or not. I think this stems from the fact that the holes allowing air into the engine compartment are pretty restrictive, and that this engine runs extremely hot. You'll be circulating hot air into your engine.

You'll notice a whooshing sound as they draw air in both of them, and I'm betting they both provide the same sound difference. The price disparity is probably due to the Injens using the stock air tubes. R2C comes with a heat shield, and it comes with a new metal body to connect to the throttle bodies via couplings.

Any sound you gain from SRI's will be drowned out by most aftermarket exhausts, but you can make the sound more noticeable by removing your hood liner.

I have the Injen SRI and it too has heat shields. Like Anthony mentioned the R2C has new intake tubes hence the higher price. The sound is most definitely noticed at WOT above 3500 rpm and is significant. The sound alone is worth the price of admission, at least IMO There is the efficiency lost through
"heat soak" but w/ the heat shields and the use of the oem plastic piping the heat soak is minimal w/ the Injen. I haven't noticed any decrease in hwy mpg whereas you should get less hwy mpg if heat soak becomes an issue.
The OEM intakes are pretty efficient, I wouldn't get an intake for the VQ for the gains because they're minimal, but for the sound and a bit cleaner engine bay it's a good mod.

I found several dynos in that thread that seem to suggest a benefit. Are these not the typical case? I was under the impression that with a tune they could give you some kind of benefit due to have less restrictive air filters and wider intake pipes (at least in the R2C).

I can't say with any certainty that I've received any gains after installing the R2C, the butt dyno says that I have but it won't print out any proof... I feel like the car is more responsive but, I also had the trans and ECU updated and am driving it harder since I'm loving the sound. Look a great in the engine bay though I followed Rochester's thread and will also be ordering different hoses and clamps to fit more where I would like my engine bay to be eventually.

If you decide to go R2C may I suggest that you go with the black nickel finish? Either way, I would contact Tunerzstore to see if they'll still honor the GB price.

I agree with everything Rex has said. I also picked up the R2C from Tunerzstore. Give Michael a call or PM him and i'm sure he'll get you hooked up. Pricing was way under what i thought it was going to be.
