I know there are some G35 posts on other forums saying how their trunk struts went out and they went to NAPA to find an alternative, which turned out to work just as well. I'm hoping we can do the same for our hood struts. $104 per strut, that's definitely on the higher end (heck, I even read Porsche hood struts are like half the price).

And the aftermarket replacement ones I've gotten for various cars were hit or miss. Some lasted as long s 2 years. Some 6 months. Mine on my 08 need replacement now. I guess 5.5 years is as much as I should expect.

Thx guys, I guess I will search around some more. I'm with BB on not getting used ones. It's not high on my priority list but it just bugs me that I have to put a stick to support it everytime I pop the hood.

I have a cheaper solution for you which I may be doing myself too.

Drill a small hole right under the piston of the hood damper and stick and rod there when you want to keep it open.
