275/35/19 Rear - 245/40/19 Front Upgrade Tire Sizes for Stock 19's = Car Slower?
I was wondering if changing the stock size tires for the factory 19's from 245/40/10 & 225/45/19 to 275/35/19 & 245/40/19 would cause a decrease (even just slightly) in the performance of the car.
I know when you upgrade your wheels plus one to a heavier wheel, the higher rotational mass will cause your car to work harder with the added weight/mass, and since the larger tire sizes above would add weight, would performance suffer as a result?
I just bought my g coupe and coming from an IS350, the the car is already slower, so I didn't want to negatively affect the performance of the vehicle in any way, even if it is just slightly. Which is probably in estimation the affect it would have on the car.
What do you think? Those that have upgraded to meatier tires on the stock wheels, have you noticed any decrease of performance? Preferably hard proof like track times before and after?

Uh, yes. That is correct. The IS350 is faster, especially off the line.
The 350 has more torque, is a lighter vehicle, and more aggressive gearing for 1st & 2nd gears. To put things in perspective, most 1/4 mile times you see online range from the low to mid 13's for the 350 while the G coupe is more like mid/late 13's to early 14's.
Don't get me wrong, I love my G coupe (that I just bought), but the reality is the IS350 is a faster car. I can definitely feel it. I also raced both of my friend's G37 coupes (auto & manual) and beat them both (multiple times) before I bought my G.
Now back to the subject at hand, anybody have experience or concrete comparisons between the stock 19 tires sizes versus the meatier sizes?

Buddy your are talking about minute PAPER differences. Glad you read edmunds before you posted. But I can assure you your "feeling it" is about as real as the sky falling right now. And your two runs don't exactly add up to an objective assessment of performance.

And if the overwhelming "PAPER" differences from various places show the the 350 is a faster car, then how can you ignore that?
I understand that this is a G37 forum and there is a lot of people with pride for their vehicles, but the fact is the IS350 is faster. NO QUESTION ABOUT IT. Although the car is slower, I still wanted and purchased a G coupe knowing this full well. 1st and second gear on these cars just lack the low-end torque and gearing to get fast launches.
Those who say the G is faster are the same people that say they can beat current model S4's or M3's (or 335i's for that matter). Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
Can we get back to my original question? Anybody notice a difference with the larger tire sizes on the stock 19" wheels?

Actually only once by you (thanks), but I'm really looking for actual anecdotal experiences/differences in how the car drove after upgrading to larger tires including handling performance, speed, etc.
Anybody notice any real differences compared to stock?

its called weight, people under estimate how much 100 lbs really is and the difference in the weight of these cars is at least 400 lbs. Find the difference in weight then imagine taking that 100 pound dumb bell and putting one in every seat and 2 or 3 in the trunk of the is350 then go to the drag
but advice to op, being youre new to the G and new to this forum and even if the is350 is faster which i think it probably is, i wouldnt say it on here.
i dont wear my st louis cardinals hat in dallas escpecially since i only moved here a month ago lol

no brainer: in theory, if you are adding more rotational mass (ie larger tires) to car, then yes from baseline, it would be "slower", the reality is that you more than likely wont be able to tell that much of a difference, hell even if i have my G full of passengers, i can't tell if it's any slower. haha
