I used the couplers up top I did have to cut like with the stillens but took about five minutes with the air saw and I cut open a coupler and wrapped around intake tube and zip tied it so it won't rub on a/c line like people said their Stillens do although I did use 3" I was pretty far from my a/c line I don't see any way the Stillen would rub either unless people aren't looking where they are cutting to run piping and just cut further in..... With my setup I could have easily used couplers and reducers and not cut at all but the OEM size of the holes being significantly smaller the size of couple and reducer would have choked it and created a huge power loss in my opinion (all though I did not test this theory like everything else)

I just installed my Gen3's and yes they have a nice growl to them at WOT. I can't really tell in a power increase, but this is my only mod, no tune etc. But if I had to do it all over again I would go with Takeda hands down. The Gen3 was a major pain in the a$$ to install. And it cost WAY to much. It's like I bought a universal intake off of ebay for $500 and tried to make it fit. The fitment was WAY off. I would not recommend the Gen3 intake to anyone just because of the pain to install and price. Just my .02 cents..

sorry if this is an obvious/dumb/super newb question, but looking at the placement of the takeda cai, it looks like the air filter is not in an easily accessible place. is it a major pain in the butt to replace or clean the filter?

no, just take off the radiator cover and reach in there.. if worse comes to worse.. take off the grille.. but you don't have to remove the bumper each time if that's what you're asking

thanks a bunch for the reply. if i get this, i'll probably have a friend install it for me... so i have no idea how difficult it is to take off the radiator cover or grille. so i guess that's my question: are radiator cover and grille removal pretty easy? thanks again (and sorry for the minor thread hijack).

The cover isn't difficult.. there's DIY's on how to remove it.. just take out the plastic clips that attach it to the bumper, then remove the screws for the other parts. I will say if installing this the first time, remove the bumper. Once you do it once you're an expert at it. Again check the DIY section and you should find sufficient info.

I went Takeda. Love mine, although they are not California CARB legal and I believe the Stillens are. Don't know if that matters where you live.

I have the R2C But if I went again and was looking more for power vs ease of install and sound I would go Gen3s!
