Gas Tank Size

How big is the g37 tank? When I first got my car I thought it used to fill up ~ 17 g, now i only fill to about 14-15.

BluestickG 01-11-2012 11:15 AM

pretty sure its 20 gallons

According to Fuel Economy of the 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe

That is correct

question is.......is it 18 + 2 gallon reserve? or 20 + 2 gallon reserve

fluxemag 01-11-2012 05:23 PM

My guess is 18+2 because the gauge says empty and the mileage at 0 when I put in about 18 gallons. And I know it has a 20 gallon tank.

Assuming this 2gal is valid, the question becomes, is this volume usable. Some tank designs may or may not permit this to be the case.

What is this gas reserve?? It's got 2 gallons after it reads empty?

Yes. It will read empty while you still have 2 or 2 1/2 gallons left in your gas tank. Basically, it is a little insurance for those people who like to really push the limits of not getting gas so they don't actually run out of fuel. When my car actually reads Range: ---, I usually end up putting 17 to 17.5 gallons of fuel in my car. On a couple rare occasions over the years I took a little over 18 gallons.

this is actually good info to know... my buddy was filling up his tank one day and he noticed that the gallons meter on the pump read higher than what his tank actually held. He had to pull out his service manual to the cashier stating that his pump was faulty.. had to void the transaction and he got a free tank. probably doesnt happen very often though.

Fentress24 01-11-2012 07:01 PM

haha wish I didn't read this. Went straight to the gas station when I hit --- in the past. Now may cut it even closer.

eksigned 01-11-2012 08:05 PM

we have about a ~40 mile reserve tank. it all depends on how you drive though. 20 gallon tank with ~3 gallons on reserve. ~40 miles after the range hits zero is when you're truly on the reserve.

Marvel120 01-11-2012 08:54 PM

20 gallons

Meekayal 01-14-2012 04:42 AM

I hate how it reads --- when I still have 3+ gallons left. Makes me super paranoid.

hustlerj 01-14-2012 04:50 AM

i can confirm its 20 galloons. when your fuel level low comes on, actually u still have 3 galloons left. i drove another 10-15 miles before i go to a gas station. filled up my whole tank. 17.5 galloons.

SwissCheeseHead 01-14-2012 09:53 AM

lol. I'm too paranoid I guess. I fill it up when my tank meter say I have 1/4 tank left.
