Gas Tank Size

On my ’08 the LCD shows an additional low fuel warning by displaying the range in miles left until empty. Mine came on one day at 30 miles. I refueled in short order, but I wonder if it would go down to zero if I didn't, showing a completely empty tank.

...prevents the stupids from relying 100% that they can make it another 2 miles, etc.

That’s a good point. In my old Datsun 280ZX there was actually a smaller gas gauge within the main gauge that accurately read fuel remaining with less than 1/8 of a tank. The owner’s manual clearly said to never run out of gas as the fuel pump, located in the gas tank, may burn out.

yep its bad for your fuel pump. it has to do more work to get the gas in.

It is a 20 gallon tank. I drive on empty all the time and it shows 18.2ish when i pump a full tank. So i calculated I should have at least 37 miles left when the display shows --- lol

I have a 2008 G37 coupe with about 37,000 miles on it and I have run it down to just below the 1/8th line with the dash reading about 10miles left till empty on several occasions. When I fill up it always stops at about 15.5gallons. If the reserve is 3gallons and I run it down to about 1/2 of a gallon from the reserve then I should be seeing around 16.5 going in. Is there something wrong with my fill indication maybe?

LOL +2 ^^^^^^^
@Snypos I believe all these damn g's have fubar gas needles, mine's always jumping around. Mine used to be ~ 15 gallons when it came close to rock bottom but now it's ~17. Not sure why, very odd.

I had a G35 for 7 years from new and the needle was NEVER accurate. G37 is slightly better but it's Definetly far from accurate.
I think it has something to do with the shape of the tank...?
