The 19' rims and paddle shifter. I got my eye on a Journey but the Sport trim is only a $1000 more. Should I go ahead and fork up another G to get it?

Also has a more aggressive steering ratio and stiffer sway bar. Definitely go for it if you can. For only $1000 it should be a no brainer. I always wish I had gone for a sport.

The engine is exactly the same. No difference. Sport does look more aggressive though. A lot of people like the Journey because of the concept of the G37 before the G was officially released.

The S also has different seats. Some owners like the sport seats and some don't. They were too uncomfortable for my taste due to the confining side bolsters. I had a BMW 540i with sport seats that had similar side bolsters but they fit me perfect.

I opted for the sport version of the 6mt as that is the only way it comes
If I wanted an automatic, I still would have gone for sport. Major selling points for me were the larger brakes (rotors and pistons), staggered/wider tires, tighter suspension, and smaller steering ratio (more responsive steering wheel).

Get the sport for $1k more. It gets you the better brakes, the steering ratio, the thicker sways and limited slip differential I believe. The seats are trivial things. The bumper is based on your taste. Even if you're not a "racer", the look and slight performance upgrades are worth it. Plus you're getting a sexy car, might as well get the sexy looking brake calipers.

You should drive them both back to back, you'll notice a huge difference. It will really depend on you and how you plan on using the car. If you have a short commute or it's going to be a weekend car then I'd definitely go with the sport. If you find yourself driving a lot for work then you may opt for the softer ride of the Journey.
They really are completely different experiences. I almost wrote the G off after test driving a Journey (they didn't have an S on the lot).

I do long rides with the sport suspension and I have no issues with it at all. The seats make all the differance in the world. The stiffer ride is still far softer than my Jeeps!
