I'm looking into getting a used g37 coupe. Can someone please inform me of the differences between the 08 and 09 coupes? Any info is much appreciated! Thanks!

I was also thinking about this. It would be useful if we had a topic like this over here
03-05 versus 06/07 - G35Driver

2008 is the first model year of the G37 coupe, I heard the car has alot of problems because of that.

Which is why I went into a 2011.

08 Automatic 5AT vs, 09 Automatic 7AT

7AT better feul economy, but people have debates about 5AT or 7AT is better. Some argue that 5AT is more sporty cuz it holds rev up having with only 5 gears. 7AT is IMO really smooth.

For interior, you know the heating seat button? 08 is just switch (high and low) with middle swtich missing labels except for G37X (looks kinda cheap) whereas 09 has just two turning swtich with 5 different heating intenstiy.

09 has self healing paint that small scratches it heals itself over time, not 08s.

lots of 08 had exhuast rattle (gotta be careful when buying used)
and 08's the door handles and interior trim of (washy aluminum trim) gets scratched easily, they fixed it for 09, or after certain month of 09.

All year have problem with seating bubble, and sqeaky breaks on reverse.

my 09 has a 6 disk changer. The main thing that made me choose the 09 over the 08 was the paint, lower mileage, and heated seat adjuster. Mine is a 6mt so i cant comment on the automatic from experience. I have had no problems with my 09 (excluding seat bubbles, but that doesnt bother me) and absolutely love the car. Never hurts to go newer when you have the option

If you're looking at '09s, you may also consider a [freshly] used '10. The most significant differences between the '09 and '10 is the updated instrument cluster lighting (all white in the '10) and upgraded screen & nav system. The all white instrument cluster looks great, while the screen has a higher resolution, and it has the newer Nissan/Infiniti nav system--which is pretty awesome IMO. As petty as it sounds, that's why I held out and got a used '10 over a '09--and there really wasn't much of a price difference (~$2-3k).

if ur going for a 6 speed, get the 08. save some dough. plus it came available with everything. I think most of the problems from the 08 have been identified and have been addressed (mainly with 5AT) 6 speed really haven't seen any issues.

09 they started taking things away.

09 is the only way you can get the G37X coupe tho. 7AT. I wouldn't hold ur breath for a G37X 6mt tho.

thats a good qns, josh pretty much summed it up. btw there is a tsb for the oem exhaust rattle so u can replace with new mufflers under warranty easily, no worries.

and 5AT is definitely better than 7AT with the rides being a lot smoother

Some had problems, many others didn't. I'm a very happy '08 owner as well as a lot of others here.
