It's a wide open throttle thing. I can't explain it, maybe someone else can. My Q60S coupe does it and so did my G35 coupe ever since they day I rolled each of them off the lot brand new.

I used to smell this when my car was stock. Changing exhaust and hfc changed that. Now smells of gas rather than burnt.

That burnt smell reminded me a bit of how my diesel used to smell.

don't mean to get off topic, but does your Q60 leak hot air out of the lower vents?

was curious if that's a G37 thing or an Infiniti thing ....

Not sure what you mean. You may be confusing AC deactivation under hard throttle with something else. This is a feature on most newer cars that adds a marginal amount of efficiency by turning off the compressor to reduce throttle lag.

That's been a feature since at least 1994.

no, not AC deactivation.

i'm talking about warm air trickling out of the lower vents when the climate control system is off.
if just using the fan (fresh air, no AC), the lower vents put out MUCH warmer air than the top vents.

i HATE this in my G37, and i'll just completely scratch a Q60 off the list for potential next cars if that's the case.

2013 Vert--me too!

Bought nice 2013 G37 convertible a year ago, only 24k miles, like new. About every other drive I also smell burnt smell, fills my whole garage. Checked water temp with test thermometer, all hoses & belts, no oil leaks etc. Very curious if anyone ever found anything it seems several of us have had same burning smells. Dealer admits to knowing nothing....

Have anybody figured whats that smell? I can smell some weird smell everytime the car is running. Gas is closest thing i can think. No leaks anywhere, have done this since I got it like 10k miles so it isnt any plastic bag. Car runs fine, no problems anywhere, it just smells bad
-08 G37s M6 ~53k miles
