I've had my '09 G37S Coupe for about 9 months now and finally got around to tinting it (35% all around, 3M Color Stable). I know it takes a few days for little bumps, streaks, and cloudiness to go away, but driving tonight I realized there is something VERY ANNOYING about my back window now, and I'm not sure if this is normal.

You know how the back window has those tiny heating wires for defrosting? Well, they've never interfered with my vision before or caused any artifacts, but now with the tinting each one of them perfectly reflects every light source, which gives a "shutter" effect through the entire back window. I've attached a quick photoshop of almost exactly what I see when I look in my rearview mirror at night.

Is this normal, or did that tint place just not do it right? Should I wait it out before I flip out? It's REALLY distracting!

i don't think this is normal, i have a civic coupe tinted 35 all around and i don't get this effect

I don't think it's a universal problem, just curious if it's something other G37 Coupe owners have seen - those heating wires are definitely very prominently raised.

it's normal but you will get used to it.

Well I'm at least glad to hear that I'm not the only one seeing this. Beast808 - do you have a G37 Coupe?

man and I thought my dealer did a poor job... No this is definitely not normal. I've had two coupes with tint and neither of them had this issue.

I have 3M Crystalline and I do not have any problem. Give it at least a couple of days to dry out.

looking at it on my iPhone... that's seems normal. But this isn't a real picture. We need a real one to give you a final answer. And depending where you live you need 3-5 days to completely dry out.

If you live up where it s freezing cold it may take a week or 2 to fully dry out.

I live in Los Angeles, but my car is garaged 90% of the time (both my apartment and my office have subterranean parking). This weekend I'm going to park it at my girlfriend's place in the valley and let it bake in the sun a little.

I'll take a few real pictures tonight and post them.

Well, the guys over on tintdude.com replied immediately (awesome!) and told me that unfortunately that reflection is common from defoggers, and varies from car-to-car, angle of window, etc. (Window Film: Care and Cleaning).

It's something I can live with, but wanted to make sure that the degree in which I'm experiencing it is common among G37s.

The bumps/contamination on the other hand... that might be a legit problem I need to take up with the tint place.
