What is Canada's Liquid Metal Grey in USA?

When I compare Infiniti.com and Infiniti.ca the default images, on the "build your Infiniti", seem to make it appear that:
Canada's Liquid Metal Grey (2009/2010) is the equivalent of USA's Platinum Graphite (2009) or USA's Graphite Shadow (2010) and...
Canada's Diamond Graphite (2009) or Asgard Grey (2010) is the equivalent of USA's Amethyst Graphite (2009/2010)

The question is: are the exterior color schemes are actually different or just renamed...? :dunno:

I'm thinking it's just renamed... like USA's Blue Slate vs Canada's Blue Onyx...

Can anyone confirm this? I haven't found a thread that speaks specifically to this but I'm sure there are other canucks who have imported painted parts...

I've been wanting to import splash guards and spoilers from the US but a mismatched color would certainly be an unpleasant surprise...

it's just renamed... that's all

Thanks for the response, ngg.

So if I'm ordering a painted part from the US, then should it be Platinum Graphite in order to match my G's color... right?

Anyone able confirm if I have the colors matched up properly from experience?

nogoodname Jan 15, 2010 03:13 PM

yes, you would buy a PG (or whatever it is) painted part to match... i don't get why they had to rename most of the colours... (except AB and OB)

SkylineEX-S Jan 15, 2010 03:16 PM

I was thinking the same thing about white.
Moonlight White or Aspen Pearl... :dunno:

LaWzLoL Jan 15, 2010 03:17 PM

Ya it's pretty silly. It doesn't seem to be a marketing thing to the extent of rebadging and renaming from SKYLINE to G...

Maybe it's to keep Canadians and Americans from buying across the border for exterior parts... lol...

shinannigans... :5091:

they did it so that the names aren't too corny up here :bowrofl:

PG is what I was thinking

Don't make me slap you silly with a pound/454 grams of Back Bacon/Jambon Du..um..Back (or whatever it's called in French)!

*ducks, runs*

(Sorry had to. :D And yes, very much joking...I know too many Canadians who'd flog me with something more deadly then that if I wasn't. )

Liquid Metal Grey was introduced to me, by the Sales, as the signature colour of the G Coupe.

It is the same as Amethyst Graphite in the US.

Are you absolutely positive?

If you do a comparison between infiniti.ca and inifinitiusa.com on the colors I described in the OP (albeit they're just pictures), LMG looks more like PG... But since you have the LMG color based on your sig, I'm inclined to trust you on this one...

Have you purchased any painted parts from the US for your G? :confused2:

I am positive, that is if my memory serves me right.

It is obvious that you have a skin in this game. Why don't you look up the Colour Codes between Canada and US to be 100% centain.

Ya, I'm still working on it. Googled it to no end and finally bit the bullet and phoned customer service. All they could tell me is that the color code is K57 for Liquid Metal Grey. Now I'm working on finding the USA match...

Thanks again ngn... looks like they failed on their websites (i.e. they have the pictures reversed and have had them reversed for both 2009 and 2010).

I also just finished phoning around based on my VIN number etc and it's K57 confirmed...

Thanks for the help guys!

Liquid Metal Grey = Amethyst Graphite :52:
