Battery for Key

I feel like an idiot. My display was showing that my battery for the keyless entry was low. In a panic of being stranded I went to the nearest Infiniti and bought the battery ( Panasonic CR 2032 3V)...for $11!!!...LOL....God I got duped...especially when I looked online and saw that radio shack sells it for under $5.

and some for even less than $2.

I read the manual and it does say it has a life of around 2 years...I should have stacked up, I could have bought a few of these for the price I paid Infinity for 1!!! :bowrofl:

You live and learn. I bought a 3 pack at Radio Shak the other day for $11. Went to O'reilly Auto Parts afterward and saw they had 2 packs for $5 on the counter.

You probably presumed (like a lot of people seem to) that it is a specialty battery or an unusual model and only the dealership will have it. My garage door opener takes the same battery.

BTW, I think that the warning light comes on long before the battery is actually low. I'm going to keep a spare in the car and when it comes on the next time see how long I can actually use the fob before it's completely dead.

yeah...it was an impulse thing...my display started issuing the warning this morning showing a picture with a key and a battery with 50% bar. I said, okay, I'll get some batteries this weekend...but then around noon the display showed 25%!!!...that's when I freaked, cuz I was miles from home....lol

Even if your battery dies all the way, you open the door with the hard key and insert the intelligent key into the slot. You won't get stranded because of a bad $2 battery for a 40k car.

But if you are running the key hole cover, it would be a pain to pop off in the rain to get into the car. Mine gave me the warning yesterday (must be battery month) so replaced today with one of the two batteries I got from Terrycs with the key covers.

That's good to know, I'm a new owner and I know I will be coming accross this in 2 yrs or so, can someone tell me how do you change the battery in our keyless entry?

It's in the "Maintainance and Do It Yourself" section of your operator's manual.;)

My low battery warning shows up yesterday. The G is only just 5 months old. I should take it back to the dealer and ask them to put a new battery in.

Two months ago, I bought 6 batteries from eBay at <$2 per battery delivered (for my Infiniti and Nissan cars). It is cheaper for me to replace the battery than to drive to the dealer. LOL

Battery plus charged me 3 bucks and they replaced.

I bought my replacement batteries (20 of them for $3.88) here a while ago:
DealExtreme: $3.66 2032 x 20 pcs Cell Batteries

Dirt cheap, free shipping, but the problem I found with this jumbo blister pack is that the batteries didn't seem to last very long (I see to have to go thru a new one every 3-4 months).

Might want to try these instead:
DealExtreme: $2.11 CR2032 3V Cell Button Battery (5-Pack)

I buys some stuff from Deal Extreme but I'd never buy batteries there. Those batteries that you are buying for .18 each are older than you are. They may be factory seconds. The 5 pack me be a bit better. $2 or $3 a year is not a bad price for the conveniences our fob has.

Now if you can find Energizer or Duracell batteries dirt cheap, I'm in! :D

My parents do watch repair/jewelry repair.. and we go through these kinds of batteries all the time. Infact, at our store we sell them and install it for you for $4 bucks.

Look for "Maxell" and "Renata". they are fairly good brands, anything from dealextreme i would be iffy about.. its like dollar store batteries. I would prefer duracell, energizer, etc.

My dashboard warning came on about a couple weeks ago. I'm not going to bother changing it for another couple weeks haha.

STOOF 11-01-2009 04:06 AM

Mine came on a couple weeks ago too. I doubt its really that low so soon.

I used to buy these batteries in the dollar store, 4pk for a buck cant beat that.

Hey quick question. I found a Duracell battery where the model number is DL2032B. Is that the same battery as the CR2032 references I see everywhere? I'm thinking it is, but just want to be sure. Thanks.
