what's this?
When I got my 2009 G coupe, I noticed this clear plastic film just in front of the rear arches, almost like a clear bra. It's about the size of 2 palms. I haven't noticed this on all cars, but since this was how the car came from the dealer, I figured it's supposed to be there. What's it for, and do people just take it off after?
You can just barely make it out in this pic, directly left of the rear wheel. http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/upload/...37Roadster.jpg |
like a clear bra... its there cause thats an area where road debri hits often
|
I took mine off

it protects the road debris from the highway. i wish the FX had it b/c i have chips in that area
|
I noticed mine last week. But it was funny because I then noticed that my Nissan Pathfinder (which I've had for 2 years) also has it in the same place. lol
|
yea i have it 2. Leave it, you can barely see it anyways

here is a tip. I get alot of rocks during winter driving in Alberta. remove the factory 3m and go get the 3M that is for an 08 FX wheel flare. it fits purfect and protects alot better

I like that its there, especially living the northeast. My friends were all pretty amazed Infiniti would even put a clear bra on that rock chip prone part of the car. Might be useless for west coast people though. rock salt sucks

JK, I know what you're saying. I never noticed that on my car though, I'll take a closer look later. Too bad the rocks/pebbles are still doing their damage anyway. I almost went the clear bra route, but ehh, I figure a car is meant to get worn down over time anyway. Plus a clear bra won't protect me from a fire hydrant (*knock on wood*) |
if you go wider tires in the front its a def must
