Moonroof Rattle

I been having this problem ever since I took delivery of my G. When I hit little of big bumps my moonroof rattles like hell, especially if it's open or tilted. It also rattles while sitting in idle in the traffic with all the road noise. I took it to the dealer today and they drove it and said they heard nothing. But you can hear it clearly and it's loud. It's like an annoying clicking sound. When I got home I pushed up on the moonroof with my hand and you can hear it click.

I don't know what to do. I tighten the bolts and still nothing.

Id take it back to the dealer, and let them hear it. Is the noise reproducible?

Nope mine doesn't squeek. When I have time later on next week I'll take it back again. I hope it can be fixed cause it's annoying.

Mine got progressively worst over time. The dealer is taking care of it for me today along with the high pitch noise fromt the front speakers.

Mine didn't rattle or squeak, but it made this awful tension-y flexing noise. Kind of a popping or cracking. I took it in and finally they located it - it was a piece of that soft black material that's around it (blanking on what it's called) - like the insulation or lining or whatever. Turns out there was a piece missing or a piece stuck somewhere. Have them take a look at that.

I've also heard of this happening if there was some wax or other debris caught in the sunroof area.

Now my sunroof is making some new noises. It makes strange clicking, squeaking, and grinding noises when it's opening and closing. Sigh...

mine did it when it was closed, but not when it was closed or open, took it to the dealer they said the seal dried out so they rubbed something on it to re-moisten it and it worked. I don't know what they used though.

Moonroof / headliner rattle

I had a little rattle on my 2013 G37x Sedan, especially when the temperature was near or below 0° F. Was coming from the area just IN FRONT of the moonroof, inside the headliner / ceiling area there, like the various layers were a bit loose. What I did is put a small chunk - a 1"x½" x ¾" of fairly dense foam between the layers of the headliner / roof, sliding it in a little along the front edge of the open moonroof opening. Worked like a charm.

FOR SQUEAKY RUBBER SEALS there are a number of lubricants / protectants that you can use - 303 Aerospace Protectant is a good one to try first, it leaves a very light coating that serves to lubricate. "Gummi Pflege Stift" is even better, Google it.
