So... took my car in this morning to get estimates and were given three amounts: $716.00, $1,071.00, and $761.00. The sunroof window alone cost $551.00. I made the mistake of calling my insurance company right after it happened and my deductible is $1,000.00.

We didn't hit any bumps or potholes but we did go under a bridge overpass. I'm assuming something fell off a truck or someone was being funny and threw something off the bridge. I called Glendale Infiniti and unfortunately the damage is not cover under warranty.

BTW, what is frame flexing?

Wonder how hard it is to replace yourself. Aligning it would probably be a pain in the butt.

Yeah I would be shocked if Glendale Infiniti covered that under warranty. Most likely someone threw something at your car or something. Sucks to hear, sorry about that.

I heard Alicia Keys looked great at that concert.

This is a bit odd as a number of guys driving e90's have been running into the same problem. Some think that the frame of these cars are flexing causing the sunroofs to shatter. No one is willing to take the blame just yet. I have heard about 5 of these cases and each time, the dealer has not taken the responsibility for this.

Wouldn't the sunroof glass be tampered glass? It's gotta take a good amount of body flex to break those things like that

No one is taking the blame or considering it as some type of defect. They all think that a rock or some object hit it causing it to break like that. It's extremly fustrating. I miss driving it sooo much because I love the car a lot. This has cause me to reconsider leasing another Infiniti. This has never happened to my Acura Integra before, I was drove it at high rate of speed, and never an incident like this occured. Just something for you folks to think about.

Good point but it's not inherit only to Infiniti. I've yet to hear of any dealerships or manufacturers accepting blame. As stated in other comments, it's happened on other brand vehicles and yet no one has accepted the responsibility.

It's a tough case to prove, I feel for you bro! Hope it gets straightened out.

I had to pay to replace the sunroof in my Solara when it shattered. Toyota laughed at me when I suggested they replace it under warranty.

no way a rock could have done that, the sun roof is parallel to the road, has to be some kind of defect

this is what i was gonna say... i'd really put blame on infiniti... there is NO WAY it could have been from an object... anything in the road that hit... could not have hit hard enough at that angle..... sorry, but there is just no way.
if by some chance it DID.. say something dropped from the sky.... it would have either been with the broken glass... or rolled other the car (making more noise) and leaving at least scratches.
this is without a doubt, a defect of some sort.

^^ yea, there no way anything hit it, unless objects on that freeway doesnt obey the laws of common physics LOL

i'm guessing it was a tight fit or installed wrong or some other kind of defect and u hit a bump and it shattered
