Keyed.....or why I can't have nice things.

Deep gash down the full length of the passenger door. Hu-effing-ray. Watch yourselves people, the haters are out there.

I think Tarantino said it best....

Anyways, how much should I expect to repaint a door? This isn't a buff job.

Blackjack Jan 23, 2008 03:06 PM

Oh man... that sucks. Best of Luck. Find a reputable shop in your area... I know you say it can't be buffed out, but you may be surprised.

DoubleParadoxx Jan 23, 2008 03:09 PM

I'm going to take it to my dealerships body shop tomorrow. Probably more expensive but I figure they'll do a good job.

Callaway Jan 23, 2008 03:13 PM

Yikes. Where were you parked?

DoubleParadoxx Jan 23, 2008 03:17 PM

It happened either Monday or Tuesday, so that leaves work (unlikely, we have cameras, but they're down this week and I park far away from anyone), my apartment complex, a local bar, or my gym.

I've called around to everywhere but the gym, no cameras. They gym has cameras and I'll be checking that tonight.

My money is on it happening at the bar. Parking is close and someone would feel hidden enough to do it. Its a pretty classy joint, but who knows.

That sucks big time! I know the pain, I got hit once in Santa Clara, CA while parked behind a movie theater. I had a favorite spot there, extra wide spot. Both sides were scratched, one door kicked (left a dent). I had a custom stripe that went around the whole car that needed to be completely redone, custom airbrush work was not gonna be easy to replicate.

getting "keyed" will definitely require repaint, nadda on the buff, wishful thinking...

DiamondGCoupe Jan 23, 2008 03:47 PM

Is it just the door or did they nick the panels too? Mind posting a picture or two?

JDM 350GT Jan 23, 2008 03:49 PM

sucks...friend of mine had to repair 2 doors on his bimmer and it cost him 1000+...
i am guessing mid hundreds+?

DoubleParadoxx Jan 23, 2008 03:59 PM

I'll post the gruesome pictures later. At work now.

GiGGaplease Jan 23, 2008 04:06 PM

that sucks, karma will hopefully get them.

smoothieboy Jan 23, 2008 04:40 PM

that sucks man...sorry to hear it, this is when we need some kind of electricfying device to protect our cars

xref Jan 23, 2008 04:43 PM

wow, I'm speechless...:eek3:

DetroitG37Joe Jan 23, 2008 06:18 PM

Damn. Losers key cars. No one with respect to automobiles would key a car. The way my insurance works is that hit and runs or vandalism is covered and repaired at no cost to me - no deductible - nothing. See if your insurance has anything in place for u? Me personally when parking and and pulling out and even walking by cars I treat each car as my own. even when driving my old beater cars I park and open doors to not hit my neighbours door. Am I a dying breed these days O Lord?

YeahRightFoo Jan 23, 2008 06:20 PM

Sorry to hear that. That really sucks. This is why we need to add shock sensors to the crapy stock car alarm.
