G37S Coupe Convertible Roof Stuck Crooked

Hi,

Somehow, my wife closed the roof on her G37S hard top convertible while she had a bunch of stuff in the back seat. As the roof was closing, some of the stuff was higher on one side of the car and it caused the roof to close crookedly with only one side latching and leaving a gap on the other side.

The roof will neither open nor close and the roof control does not seem to do anything right now.

The stuff in the car has been removed so if we can somehow get the one side to unlatch, and get the roof control to work, we should be able to close the roof correctly.... I hope.

I attached some pictures to this post of the mess....

Thanks for any and all help you can offer!
John

We tried that yesterday twice and although it seemed that the roof switch became active after disconnecting the neg batt cable, the roof wouldn't open nor close.

Don't force anything!

Take it to a dealer and have them hookup a computer to it. Pretty sure their CONSULT device can latch/unlatch the latches.

Stuff in the back seat? Like a tree or something???

Thank you to everyone for the help!

The local infiniti dealer wanted $179 just to look at it.
Took it to a European Auto Specialist (https://www.europowerhouston.com/ ) who mostly does work on high performance foreign cars and has almost all 5 star reviews from folks. He was able to get it open but there is a part which was bent when she closed the roof.
Not sure how much it is gonna cost but it will be ready to pick up on Monday.

Will update this thread at that time.

Thanks again to everyone for the help!

Sounds like they forced it.

They hooked up the Infiniti computer to the car but couldn't use it to manually open the roof or latch the trunk. The disconnect battery trick didn't work either.

Today, they said the hydraulic pump was frozen and needed to be replaced. Said a new one costs $8000. Could that be true?

They found me a used one and said that total cost for the repair will be around $1100. Does that sound reasonable?

Thanks again to everyone for the help!

$5-6k for a new motor:

INSANE!

$1100 doesn't sound too bad IMHO.

Might be a good idea to find good used ones before you really need one!

HELP!!!!. I have the same problem. My wife left the passenger seat all the way up and the headrest would not allow the passenger side top to close completely leaving a gap of 1 inch. The driver side did closed completely. I had a mechanic looked at it and he was able to close it manually (don't ask me how...) because it was raining and I didn't want the inside to get wet. Anyhow, now the top would no open nor close. I tried disconnecting the battery, but it didn't work. Do you guys know if the top can be open manually so that they can access the mechanism which is in the trunk, but the trunk doesn't open either because the system says that the roof is in operation. Please HELP!!. I am in NYC, if someone knows a place around NYC that can fix it, please let me know.

Can you tell me the outcome? I did the same thing just yesterday. My roof isn’t crooked but the operation stopped and the roof isn't latched.

hoping a simple reset will do it. Trunk will not open. Just heart sick over it. This little red lady has been pampered beyond words.
