Rear Shocks replacement - not possible?

Hi,

I have searched high and low, talked to my Infiniti dealer who had no clue and actually referred me to a speed shop who also had no idea, so I thought maybe you guys could help. I am trying to find replacement shocks for the rear on my 2010 Convertible. The issue is the lower part of the shock and how it connects, on the convertible it is to the front side of the control arm whereas the coupe is on the rear and there is a different bracket.

The part number listed on the shock is 56210K, and I cannot for the life of me find a replacement. I ordered a pair that were supposed to be for the rear, but they were for the coupe and wouldn't fit. If you look at Infiniti parts deal online, and search for part 56210K it pulls up and the main diagram clearly shows the right part (lower connection) but the recommended replacement part is for the coupe as it has the coupe bracket for mounting: Infinit parts deal
I know there are coil over kits available but I really would just prefer to keep the factory set up (this is not a daily driven car and not worth the expense).

Any ideas?

78 Views and nothing? Someone please help me out here. Even if it's "hey idiot, you can replace the shock with the recommended one the connection will work" or something.

Sorry man, I'm interested in hearing about the solution too out of sheer couriosity,

you may have to be the guinea pig on this one, AFAIK knew it was the same as the coupe
...do you have a picture of the rear strut on your vert for comparison?..the one in the link actually looks like the front strut on the RWD sedan/coupe with the ball type single joint on the bottom vs the fork type joint on the sedan/coupe rear

As it turns out the convertible has an unique rear shock, not common with any other G37s.

According to https://parts.infinitiusa.com/nissan...artcode=56210K
your part number is : E6210-JJ52A

Hashim - I can get a pic uploaded, but mine are the same as the convertible shocks in the pics in this thread: https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-con...uspension.html.

Thanks Sonic. I found the same thing, but if you look at the pic from the link I posted on Infiniti Parts Deal, the picture of the E6210 JJ52A part shows a different type of mount point than the 56210K shock in the other pic.

I guess I may just have to order the E6210 and see.

Sonic is correct and that is the correct part number. However ,I understand your frustration as all the parts websites seem to be suggesting that they are interchangeable with the coupe part despite the ovbious difference in the bottom mount of the shock. the worst part is most of them seem to show the coupe shock in at least one of the pictures/diagrams for the parts they are listing.

I am a little perplexed that the dealership doesn't understand this unless not many people have changed the rear shocks on the vert as they usually don't get a ton of mileage in some places but realyl who knows

normally I would say just get it form an aftermarket supplier like KYB (OEM equivalent) but it appears that they don't officially make one for the vert so you dont have too many options....

one thing i might suggest trying is a rear shock from a EX35...the look up code is the same for the vert as you posted (56210K) but the part number is slightly different (E62101BA0B) which is really not uncommon see here:

https://parts.infinitiusa.com/nissan...artcode=56210K

https://www.ebay.com/itm/KYB-2-REAR-...4AAOSwowtbouuT

I have no idea if it will work but the ex and G cars use a ton of interchangeable parts as they share the same platform and the rear shocks on the EX physically look the same as the vert with ther same bottom mount and since the lookup code is the same they should be interchangeable....let us know if it works

Thanks again for the response Hashim. I may finally have gotten ahold of someone at the dealership who knows the answer (my car is with them for the past 10 days due to them replacing the hydraulics for my top. It hasn't worked right since day 1, and they are finally doing it for free!).

The guy I spoke to said the factory replacement part is in fact E6210-JJ52A. They are $359 from the dealership and can be found online for $238 on Infiniti Parts Deal (https://www.infinitipartsdeal.com/pa...210-jj52a.html)

He also said there is an Infiniti Maintenance Advantage option, which the part number is E6A10-JJ52KNW and they are $148.50 each from the dealership. He said they still come with the 12 month/12,000 mile warranty just like the factory part. This one is available for $100 each at Infiniti Parts Deal (https://www.infinitipartsdeal.com/pa...0-jj52knw.html)

Looks like I finally have gotten to the bottom of it, and was able to get them for $100 each, not bad!

Hope this eventually helps someone else. Take care!

so the issue you had is the diagram is incorrect but the part numbers were correct? usually just go by the part number and enter your vin on the infiniti parts site and it should narrow it down correctly...usually

As a side note, for verts, you can use the same type bottom mount that is found on the front shocks/coilovers.

@lusecannon Do you have any feedback on the rear shocks E6A10-JJ52KNW? I am at 90k miles on my 2012 vert that we bought a few months ago, and noticed my driver side rear shock is leaking. Thinking of replacing both the rear shocks and spark plugs soon. Curious how the part is working for you.

Interestingly, the leak surfaced in couple months after I replaced my factory sway bars with Hotchkis.. an observation at this time, considering the shocks already have 90k miles.
