Its been a long time coming...
Whazzup everyone!!! It's been a long time coming but it's finally happinging!!
As many of you know, I've been working hard for almost a year now to get a Fast Intentions CBE to pair with my FI long tube Headers. I lobbied to start a Fast Intentions group buy for vert owners but was unable to get enough interest from fellow vert owners to make it to the required 7 to 10 orders to start the build (we only got to 3 including myself). I emailed and called Lance (1CleanG) as well as Tony@FastIntentions to try and get them to build a one off for me but the price was just too expensive to justify or afford ($1000 on top of the normal price of $1400). I searched for local shops that could do the modification to the CBE to make it fit between the under bracing that the convertibles have but came up empty mainly bc I live in a small town without many great shops to choose from. So all in all its been a long road for me to get to this point.
Well all of that work and overcoming the odds finally paid off today! After getting some extremely helpful advice from Tony on which CB to purchase and how to go about modifying it to fit my car. I got lucky and an old war buddy of mine called a friend of his that owns a mechanic shop. The shop (Simpli Auto of Jonesboro, AR) not only agreed to do the LTH's install, CBE modification, and the subsequent install of the CBE; but the owner also gave me a HUGE break in labor costs! Partially BC I'm a wounded veteran myself, but mainly bc of his friendship with my military brother in arms. The shop has given me a quote to do AL of the work for only $400!!! This is an insanity great price. I contacted a specialty Z/G shop located in Cali on the recommendation of some of our members here (thanks guys btw) and the shop was kind enough to email me what they would do all the same wok for so if have a price to go on when finding a local shop with reasonable quotes.
The Cali Z/G shop quotes are as follows:
6 hours labor for headers install @ $110 an hour
1 hours labor for CBE install
And $350 to modify the CBE for fitment on the convertible. Total cost = $770 install plus $350 modification
Now you all can tell why I'm extra excited about this whole deal working out. I've had the FI Headers for nearly 6 months sitting in my garage waiting for the CBE deal to somehow workout, because I wanted to have the entire exhaust installed at the same time.
I just finished making a deal with Vizard_87 to purchase his 1.5 year old FI SS CBE with 12" resonators. That deal should be competed by Tuesday and I'll have all the parts I need to go to the shop for install by the 1st of June. I still need to buy some gaskets and bolts from FI I believe.
So the full cost of this project:
FI LT Headers - $1250
FI CBE (used) - $1000
FI gaskets/bolts. - $50-100
Install(buddy price)- $400 (this could go up another couple hundred in my estimation)
Total project costs- $2750
Finally getting exactly what I want and have worked so hard to obtain...PRICELESS.
But anyway this deal is already done and in motion!! I'm super excited and I can't wait to hear the new sound of the the headers paired with the FI exhaust! I'm going to try to find a shop that has a dyno so I can do some before and after pulls to add into my review write up. From what I understand from Lance there has only been one other convertible to convince FI to do a one off build for the CBE vert style. So I'm fairly certain I'll have the ONLY G37 CONVERTIBLE to have a FULL FAST INTENTIONS SETUP! Hell MF-ing Yeah!
I want to say Thank you to everybody who has helped me along this process. From when I was just starting out and didn't know jack **** about exhausts or anything else. Without all the great members and moderators on this site, there's no way I would have ever gotten to this point! Special thanks go to Blnewt, Black Betty, Kuro, 1CleanG, Tony@FI, HolyShnyKeys, kevalteam, Rochchester, Legomaniac, Vizard_87 and I'm positive there are several others who I'm unable to remember at the moment. As soon as the install is finished I'll post pics of the parts and a video of the sound! Also look for my build thread I'll be starting after the install as well.

i believe the 100 cell cats were added into the Headers. I'll let you know if I smell fumes with the top down once the install is completed. I'm thinking it will be all finished by the 1st of June. 4 days before my birthday! Got the Vossen CV4's for myself at Christmas and one helluva birthday gift for myself this year too lol.

Picked up the car from the shop today. They quoted the job at 8hrs and it actually took them 13 hours to complete!! I give major props to Simpli auto of Jonesboro, AR, they are men of their word and they stuck to the original $400 quote!
I'll do a review write up after I've had a few days or a week to get to know the new upgrades to my baby. But for now I will say....Wow it sounds great and holy crap when I get on the gas at the upper end it sounds like I'm driving a true blue race car! Very impressed.
