It's a J2 CBE system from Speed Daddy. Easily found on eBay.

Would you like to tell us what this mystery catback is, or should we just start guessing?

Bugatti37 07-24-2014 11:52 AM

^^ seriously. lol I thought I was missing something or misread it. But definitely no mention of any kind of exhaust.

My guess is Ark.

Redfire32 07-24-2014 09:28 PM

Redfire32 07-24-2014 09:39 PM

Ok I posted the make of the system as it appears on EBay. I apologize for the mistake on original post. I sincerely thought it was in there.

Lol, that's the bad thing about the Internet. Hard to convey gentle sarcasm.

I would avoid speed daddy products. They're Chinese copies of already dodgy american products.

I've seen two of their oil cooler cores catastrophically fail pressure tests. ****ty welds and no engineering will get you a cheap sounding exhaust and power losses.

I appreciate the honesty. I'm having trouble deciding on an exhaust. Wanting to get an FI but only way to do that for a vert is either pay an extra G to custom fab or find nine other John Doe's to head up a GB with me. The Ark has had some installation successes on a vert but I've also read some negative reviews mentioning that over time they start to rattle n rub. The exhaust is my last major bolt on and I wanna get it right. I wouldn't hate it if I were able to save some dough on it but it has to match the quality of the other mods I've chosen so far. I had a friend mention checking the site to see if anybody with a vert was running a Top Speed CB. Have any thoughts on that CB or any avenues I should try?

You're fairly new so maybe you don't know this, but you shouldn't buy shytty parts to put on your car. Buy quality parts. Skip the garbage. Thank me later.

How do you know what shytty parts are? They're too damn cheap to be quality parts. This is a full "stainless" catback exhaust for less than the price of just mufflers or a mid pipe from a quality manufacturer. They come from sketchy ebay sellers whose other listings are junk as well. If a listing spells the maker of the car that the part is for incorrectly, don't even bother reading further. They are made in China. Nuff said.

Tanabe is a quality exhaust. Fast Intentions is a quality exhaust. Motordyne is a quality exhaust. There's more. No name ebay exhaust is not a quality exhaust. Top Speed is not a quality exhaust. Exotic Speed is not a quality exhaust. There's tons more.

What about say a Megan racing? I dont want cheap but dont see myself spending $1000 on an exhaust. I want a better sounding than stock. The review I read on the Tanabe is that its loud. It is a lease so will be saving my stock parts. I was also told I could put a cross over pipe in on to help quiet which ever exhaust I get. Sorry for also being new to all this.

What about AFE Takeda exhaust is it junk as well?

Black Betty 07-25-2014 10:34 AM

Guys my opinion is just that - an opinion. It's based on my own knowledge of the parts and on my own experiences as well as the trusted experiences of others who have shared with the community. I wish I had enough personal knowledge and experience to have an informed opinion every system but I don't. I can't give a definitive thought everything. But some of these that I've never heard of that are dirt cheap I would stay away from. Megan is a clone company. They mostly make cheaper copies of other well known manufacturers parts. My thought is if they're making a cheap copy of something, I'd rather spend my money with the company that actually put in the R&D than someone poaching the designs and building them to look like the original, but typically with lesser materials and sometimes labor. Even if it means spending more money. I'd rather save up to afford a few very nice parts than spend a lot on a bunch of lesser parts. I can't say Megan is absolute junk, but I wouldn't buy it. I don't know squat about AFE Takeda exhaust, so I don't have an opinion.

I didn't take offense to any of your advice. Knowing full well that it came from firsthand knowledge and experience. Some of the best advice that I've received on this site has came from a "tough love" kinda standpoint, and I appreciate that. I haven't skimped on my mods so far (ok ok maybe on the caliper covers but those are just a temporary solution to a financial problem) ...and now I have no intention to. Thanks for the suggestions Black Betty. If anybody out there knows of a quality brand CBE that is def suited to fit a 12 g37 vert plz let me know!

Black Betty 07-25-2014 12:38 PM

Cool. I didn't mean it to be offensive at all, so you received it as I intended it. But caliper covers? C'mon dude. Have some pride. Rip that crap off your car, stomp on them, and apologize to the modding gods for a crime against nature and good taste. No excuse for caliper covers. Evar.
