My poor G...

So I brought my G in yesterday to get winter/summer tires swapped, wheel alignment, 24km service (minus the cabin filter), TSB for roof squeaking, and TSB for battery no start.

They had to reset my ECU and I guess they fried it. So currently its immobilized at the dealership and a new ECU is on back order from Japan. 4-6 weeks till they can get their hands on another one.

Now I'm driving a rental (2012 Ford Taurus Limited) for now until they get the ECU in. :52: The Ford isn't so bad but it's no convertible...

Damn right when the weather got nice ... I'd be super pissed.

Wow sorry to hear that man. Did this happen at an Infiniti Dealership? If so, did they not have G37 loaner cars? Also, are they compensating you in any way for frying your ECU since its's their fault?

D_Rek 04-05-2012 04:14 PM

^^^ yea, hope they give u something for messing up ur ecu.

Sorry to hear what the dealership did to you.

Taurus Limited isn't bad. But see if you can swap it for an Infiniti loaner if they have one available.

So sorry to hear of your misfortune. I am sure that it was just a freak thing but look on the bright side - it happened at the dealership. The good news is that it will be fixed soon and all will be well.

I suggest you use the opportunity to request the service for free and inquire what added compensation they are willing to accommodate. Perhaos they will throw in a few oil changes and the next major on them for the inconvenience.

Hang in there - it will be OK!

Mike888 04-05-2012 06:13 PM

^^^Yeah agreed. The possibility of getting free oil changes in your kind of situation is pretty high. Also the dealers sometimes have M37 loaners (I got it once when I brought in my vert for service and they didn't have any G loaners), maybe you should try to request one. Good luck man.

Shane D 04-05-2012 10:39 PM

Wouldn't be half bad if you could get a SHO.:)

Hmmmm... I'll have to negotiate to get some money off the services or some oil changes. Not a big fan of this dealership at all. $500 for this service appointment so any discount would be nice.

Actually, when they drove me to the rental company, they were gonna give me an Impala... I was gonna flip for sure but they decided to give me the Taurus. I'll have to contact them for a loaner. Unfortunately they were all lent out so that's why I had to get a rental.

The SHO would be nice. Checked it out online and its got some nice numbers.

As for the weather, Calgary got hit with 30cm of snow. Went home to Regina for the weekend, another 30cm of snow today. Well, at least it was nice to see the Taurus was equipped with AWD.

da mayor 04-07-2012 04:58 PM

why the hell did they not give you an Infiniti? I'd wait there and get the first loaner Infiniti or have them get you an Infiniti enterprise rental vehicle

It seemes that Hyatt's service guys still haven't learned how to disconnect the ECU safely.

I agree, you should at least get some oil changes out of it, if not your service payment covered. And I'd be asking for an Infiniti loaner too, I'd be pissed with a ford. Hope it all turns out well

I honestly do not like the guys at Hyatt. Charge me for everything. ughh. How's your experience with them?

And I've requested for an Infiniti loaner but they're all booked out for now. But at least the Ford has many bells and whistles which the Infiniti doesn't have. The only thing that i hate about it... NOT a convertible. Especially when the suns out. :52:
