New Vert - roof doesn't seem to have power
grr... had my G37S delivered today. It was raining outside, so no opportunity to really test it until I got home.
It's as if it's not even getting any power at all. Also, the rear window switches don't seem to do anything (are they supposed to work when the top is up?) I get no errors, no indication I'm even pressing a button. The button on the door won't even open it. I've checked both trunk storage areas (underneath and behind) like 20 times -- everything is latched. I have a sinking feeling they unplugged something when they installed the accent lighting. ugh. so annoyed right now!! Of course my sales guy is gone for the day. I'll definitely be driving all the way to Tustin first thing in the morning, but really ruins the excitement. Can't believe they didn't test this before they left the dealership. wth!! :banghead: |

Accent light install is easy, the tech may have unplugged some connector accidentally. I go to Tustin for my service all the time but I double check their work with the service advisor before I drive off. :driving: |
It might be a blown fuse if you are not getting any indication of an error or anything. When the top goes up and down, you get an indication in the center part of the dot matrix dash between the speedo and the tach. If you don't want to wait until tomorrow, you could check that. The rear windows do go up and down and the top does not have to be down.
The other thing I thought of is there might be a step the dealer has to perform as prep work before delivery that they failed to do. I know that there is something that has to be done to get the clock working. Just guessing here but someone else might have a better idea. Good luck, I am sure it will get resolved. You will love the car and forget about this. |
I checked the 50A fuse under the hood earlier, but it looks ok. I may take a multimeter down there in a bit to check for sure. The fact the rear windows and the roof don't work lead me to believe it may be a wiring harness they didn't reconnect... at least i hope that's all it is :/
I'll be driving down there first thing in the morning. :-/ |

oh well. At least the night is nearly over. I'll be putting myself to bed early so I can get up first thing and go drive behind the orange curtain to (hopefully) get this thing fixed. I'm just hoping it's something as simple as a wiring harness and not something more problematic. |

the manual did reference a fuse block that is pulled out to prevent the battery from discharging (something like the clock that constantly pulls a current would make sense). I checked it, but it was pushed in (which according to the manual is where it should be).

Any time battery is disconnected the roof & windows needs to be reinitialized. Tech probably did not know and did not reinitialize.:thewave:
I'm stuck in a stripped down sedan loaner until an Infiniti engineer can look at it Monday (unless the tech lucks out today and finds what's wrong, but apparently that's a long shot). Clearly neither the dealer that swapped the car nor Tustin bothered to do a predelivery inspection. :icon20: |

unfortunately didn't turn out to be anything easy. In fact, they don't even know what's wrong other than no power is getting to it.

That sucks, I test drove every car I was interested in and they made me put the top down when I drove every color. Seems like they were just trying to push you out the door?
I didn't buy mine there, but that seems like they should be more active. |

Service mgr said techs aren't allowed to go too deep into convertible issues and Infiniti insists on their engineers getting involved in something like this. I can only hope they get to work at 7 am so I might have a chance at getting it back Monday. |

I bought through a broker, so I only test drove a car similar to what I was getting. I didn't get my hands on the actual car until the delivery company dropped it off. Of course, it was the one day it was raining in L.A., so I didn't even try to open it until later when it had stopped :/

So, did they get your top sorted out? Curious to hear what the issue was.

Infiniti Customer Affairs called me and offered me the Elite Something Something service plan for 3 years, so I guess I have free oil changes -- which is kinda cool. We'll see how things go. So far, so good... except for the outdoor temperature sensor. That thing is like 10-15 degrees high. Not sure what's going on there, but something's for sure whacky: It was freezing today in l.a., and it was reporting anywhere from 76 to 81 (it kept changing)!! Now I just need for it to be sunny, so I can really enjoy the top being down! |

The sensor may be affected by road or engine heat, wind directions and other driving conditions. The display may differ from the actual outside temperature or the temperature displayed on various signs or billboards. |
