Still following

Yes, some owners ARE still reading this thread, even though Original Poster was back in 2011.
I, also, spent lots of time looking for the best choice new rubber after OEM Bridgestones wore out.
I have heard great things about the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S...but like the previous poster, found them to be expensive. Unlike most posters here, I do NOT have the 19" Sport wheels, but rather the 18", 5-spoke rims.
My 2 final choices were between wider-than-stock Hankook Evo12's or stock-size Conti ExtremeContacts. I went with the ExtremeContact DWS tires and am very happy with the ride, performance, look, and tread depth of these tires.
After 2,000 miles I DO NOT have a problem with soft sidewalls like some owners have reported...now I do not autocross this car and my wife uses it primarily to go to and from work (I get my seat-time on the weekends).
In hindsight (for owners with the 18" wheels), I MAY have put 2 other choices ahead of the tires I got: The Hankook Evo12's in 245 front and 265 rear width MAY have been my best choice for look and performance, and now that I see my Conti DWS's daily...I kinda think I may have liked the sportier DW's tread pattern more (I really DON'T need snow capability down here in Atlanta, GA...and a 3-season performance tire may have been my best choice). I paid $930 for mounted, installed and full warranty for the 4 tires.

SO: If you have 18", 5-spoke wheels, may I suggest the following order
1. Hankook Ventus V12 Evos in 245 front, 265 rear widths
2. Continental ExtremeContact DW in OEM sizes
3. Continental ExtremeContact DWS in OEM sizes

That's my new list. Michelins would certainly top my list if cost was no factor AND if they didn't start (new) with a shallow tread depth...much shallower than other new tires from other manufacturers.

So just to doublecheck, as long as the W's are on the front and the Y's are on the back, there shouldn't be any problem since they are rated higher than the OEM's?

Will places like Costco still install them on your ride with different speed ratings?

Are there any downsides to mixing the speed ratings (handling, corners, noise, etc.)?
