My worst nightmare was real tonight

Decided to go into the NYC tonight for a few drinks in the meatpacking dist. in NYC. Had the top down and found a great spot. Only for my top to get stuck 3/4 of the way closed. The display said that the trunk was open after it got stuck. Feeling stranded I called roadside assistance and started to read the useless manual our car comes with. 45 minutes later after trying locking the car, unlocking the trunk, pulling the emergency trunk release, depressing the locking mechanism its self, pulling fuses, ect......I finally got the top to go down by pulling the emergency trunk release and then manually resetting the lock mechanism and lowering the roof from the door button on the drivers side.

Really not a fun time.....plus some kids in a civic drove by and threw change out the car at me....and one of the coins chipped the screen on the Navi....when I called the cops to give them a discription of the car they didn't even wana talk to me cause they said it wasn't an emergency (granted it wasn't) and the dispatcher gave me another non working 7-digit number to call......seriosuly NYPD is useless!

Don't let Infiniti give you a base model G35 sedan loaner, you have a top notch car, ask to cruise around in something nice while you get fixed.

That really sucks. I had my top stick open when I had a package slightly sticking out of storage area in trunk. I managed to get it closed by clearing the obstruction and turning the car off and then on again.

Dude -
So sorry to hear about your issue.
Hopefully it is a quick & easy fix and this will all be a distant memory after your next party experience...

PS - Congrats on the vert. What is it with all the white verts in the NY Metro area?

Are you serious?!?!

1. Those kids are fawking pathetic. That is really sad they think it's "cool" to throw change at you like that.

2. Seriously, the police can't take the time to help? That's still a crime (falls under assault) and they still need to help. Brushing you off and such is just sad.

I'm really sorry to hear about this. I hope it all gets fixed!!

reeeeelax, the loaners depend on what the dealership has...some dealerships dont even use infiniti's as loaners and go through a third party vendor....so he could end up in a chevy! and if the dealerships do carry their own loaner...chances are they going to be base model sedans and/or EX's....never seen a coupe or M loaner

yeah it is a crime, but not a SERIOUS emergency, which is why they gave him the other number. Same thing happened when I got my car keyed. 911 gave me another number and i had to wait 2 hours for the cops to come around.

glad everything worked out, good thing it wasnt raining! Trust me, this isnt anything close to being your WORST nightmare....im sure a totalled car > stuck roof

oh, I completely agree, not a serious crime, but it just sounded like the cops could have cared less when he called (obv I wasn't there so I don't really know what the conversation was, just going off what the OP said)

Damn, that sucks!
And about those kids in the Civic...
It's reasons like those as to why I won't buy a gun. I'd probably shoot them.

Thats exactly what I was thinking......I def would have loved to shoot them. Funny thing is I almost called up my buddy whos a cop to come out last night....might have turned out ugly. Then again I'm really happy I suppressed my anger and didn't try and start **** with them.....I could have been roadkill

I must say though the infiniti roadside assistance could have been better.

Sorry to hear your unfortunate experience, I would suggest that let you Infiniti Dealer thoroughly check out your roof operations (mechanically and electrically), by the way what year is your vert 09 or 10?
